Haute cuisine at a very affordable price. It looks nice, and is a culinary exploration.
The smoked egg for example is a wonderful idea, and tastes delicious ! The asparagus were also prepared deliciously, with great attention to detail.
But exploration also comes with risks; the concoctions are not always an improvement on the more conventional ways. This is a typical remark for all haute cuisine. All to often the looks become more important than the taste. Not so here though: the tastes are clearly kept as an important factor too!
STILL, my preference goes to the authentic style ray fish in the oven, with butter sauce and capers.
I always find it hard to give a rating to this kind of restaurant...

What a feast! The food here is absolutely delicious, refined and high level. We tasted some incredible food combinations and the price quality ratio of the menu is very good. The atmosphere is hip and cozy and the service is super friendly and helpful. You can see the chefs working all the time, adds an extra attraction to the evening.

Dining here the second time, in the winter. The dishes with winter season vegetables were are delicious as in the summer. Still love this place 👌🏻

I visited Elders for dinner and booked a table at the bar, overlooking the kitchen.  This was a good choice, as it was really an experience watching the entire team working hard on all the dishes throughout the evening.

Each dish was served with great attention to detail and had distinctive flavours.  I admire the hard work the team clearly put into the cuisine and the serving staff were also friendly and efficient.  The natural wines by the glass (we tried a few) weren't completely to my taste but were certainly interesting and a nice pairing with the food.  Overall, I'd recommend Elders - it's worth the short trip by tram or taxi when you're on a visit to Gent.
