I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Marco Polo in Croatia, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and truly made us feel like VIPs.

The food? Absolutely divine. Every dish was crafted with fresh, local ingredients and packed with flavor. I highly recommend the seafood platter—it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The balance of flavors and presentation were Michelin-star worthy.

The drinks were equally amazing. The cocktails were crafted to perfection, and the wine selection was top-notch, featuring some excellent Croatian varieties that complemented the meal perfectly.

Delicious restaurant in Old Town Dubrovnik! We had the raw oysters-highly recommend. We also had the beefsteak cooked to perfection and the sea bass fillet. The courtyard had great ambience. I finished the night with a cappuccino which is one of the best I had in Croatia. If you have extra time, I would suggest you check out the restaurant.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all phenomenal. But it’s important to note that this establishment has flaws that were surprising given the quality of all other factors. As a variety of other reviewers have mentioned, the very fact that a customer has to walk into the bar to pay instead of the bill being brought to the table is a major oversight. Such a decision is confusing and takes away from the full experience. It is not becoming of a hopeful, emerging upscale restaurant. More so, their credit card reader was not working. This staff was not properly trained in dealing with such a situation and only gave me the choice of paying with cash.

I believe it is fair to assume that this restaurant receives a good number of tourists. And while most carry cash, most would also prefer to pay with card due to the convenience and security. It was a massive error to not have contingencies for when a card reader is broken. I believe that alone speaks loudly to the management decisions made here. Again, the food and service at the table was great, but the backend of the business was not well done at all.

I hate to give reviews like this as many hard working people are involved. But as a customer and from my perspective, I was put in a difficult situation with no other alternatives provided. I’m lucky that I had enough cash on me to pay the bill. If I didn’t have the cash… I don’t know what I would done. And I fear this will happen to others in the future.

Management if you are reading this, please make the correct solutions and please be more prepared for next time. I’ve read multiple reviews where they tell customers their card reader is broken, and it only adds to the narrative that management is trying to get cash and deceive others unfortunately. It’s a shame but I can only provide my truthful perspective. Thank you for reading.
