Taro was one of my favourite restaurants when still located in Smíchov, and after the reopening at a new address it is still fantastic. Delicious food, flexibility for vegetarian & pescatarian options, and I appreciate their unique non-alcoholic drink options. The new restaurant interior is also beautiful.

After starting my vacation with a disappointing experience at one of Prague’s few Michelin-starred restaurants, I was delighted to discover Taro. The food, service, and atmosphere are exemplary.

We booked same-day reservations for a party of three on a Tuesday night. When we arrived, a chef greeted us, took our coats, and sat us at a corner of the communal dining bar. It was lovely to interact immediately with a chef.

I loved the open-kitchen and dining bar concept, because every seat is a “chef’s table”. We got a fun and intimate view of the chefs preparing the food without it being distracting.

We chose the full tasting menu with wine pairings—just the right amount of food and drinks. Chefs plated every course beautifully, with focus on the food instead of gimmicks. Dinnerware/cutlery were unfussy and didn’t overpower the food. The wine pairings were unexpected, innovative, and delicious featuring mostly natural wines from local regions.

The choreography of the service overall was well-executed. The chefs were well-coordinated with each other and delivered food efficiently. It was heartwarming to see that the chefs enjoyed each other’s company and collaboration.

I’m quite shocked this doesn’t yet have a Michelin star nor Bib Gourmand. If you’re visiting Prague, don’t miss this experience!

We really enjoyed the lunch menu: delicious Asian-European fusion food full of surprises made with fresh ingredients and prepared in front of us in the open kitchen. Reasonable price taken into account the quality of the food.

The restaurant is a bit small and most of the seats are at the bar. The waitress was very nice and spoke English and German.
