Amazing meal in a very cozy environment! We opted to sit by the open kitchen (front of the restaurant) so we can chat with the chefs...it was the best decision as we learned so much about the cuisine and the culture on our first night in Copenhagen. We chose the 3 course option and my friend and I picked 2 different choices for each course so we can try different food. For appetizers, we had the salted cod and the veal tartare. Both were equally delicious and the combination of ingredients were very creative. For entrees, I enjoyed the fish (fried plaice) a lot while my friend liked her pork belly. I am more of a seafood person and the fried plaice was definitely up my alley! For desserts, both choices (sorbet and apple trifle) were simply amazing. The presentation for all the dishes were very well done and each course showcased all the fresh and local ingredients that Denmark has to offer! The bread and the butter were so yummy that we couldn't stop eating. We happened to be there when the restaurant was celebrating their 7th birthday so the sommelier poured us extra wine and gave us a shot of schnapps! The staffs/chefs were all very friendly and funny! Not to mention, the price for the quality that we received was very reasonable! We had a blast there! Make sure you ask about the story behind "pony".

We had a great dinner here the other night. Restaurant has a cozy bistro feel - muted tones with plants on the windowsills and candles on every table. We were early for our reservation but was no problem to get seated right away as the restaurant wasn't too busy on a Tuesday evening. Service was friendly and professional. It's a small menu with 3 choices each for appetizers, mains, and desserts. We chose 3 courses for 425DKK which I think was decent value. The food was very good. I think I'd describe it as elevated comfort food - dishes were filling and delicious but flavour combinations were unique and there were some more 'modern' touches (foam, dots of sauces, etc), which added to the dishes rather than overwhelmed them. We started with delicious, hearty bread served with a huge pillow of airy butter (the server told us it had been whipped with buttermilk). The Danes really do great bread! I also had a delicious glass of sparkling wine. We were able to taste the wine before the server poured the whole glass which is always a nice touch. Unlimited water (either still or sparkling) was included for 15DKK (although I only found this out later when we got the bill). I started with steamed mussels which were served with carrot puree, red onion, fennel, and celery. Mussels were served on a plate without the shells, with garnishes mixed in. For the main I had roasted cod, with spinach and potatoes on the side along with celeriac foam, topped with bacon and crisped potatoes. For dessert I chose the raspberry dish, which was a scoop of vanilla ice cream surrounded by raspberries, toasted meringue, and crumbled almond cookies. I don't think this was the best meal I've ever had, but in terms of value in such a pricey city and the great service, it's definitely worth a visit.

My first night visiting Copenhagen my friend and I decided to go to Pony after reading about it on a travel blog. We loved the quaint atmosphere and and openness of the restaurant. It was awesome to watch the chef's skillfully cook and plate our dishes. My favorite dish was a delicious poached pear dessert. We also had a fantastic waiter who recommended some great bars to go to after our meal.

As far as the actual food and the restaurant, I would lean towards 4 stars but with the bang for the buck and the treatment, five is entirely appropriate. The 'snacks' we started with were honestly not that great - the chicken heart kind of exploded with what appeared to be water when I took a bite. However, not the end of the world. Everything else really crushed it - probably the best lamb main I've ever had, ditto the lumpfish roe starter. The thing that stood out to me, aside from the quality of the food, was that, given the price tag (not cheap but would you be going here for 'cheap'?), was the wine pairing. They clearly spent some time finding some very excellent wines that were perhaps not the obvious 'excellent' ones that might be snoozers or make the wine pairing prohibitively expensive. Highly recommend this place.

Beautiful, contemporary 'New Nordic' food presented simply and elegantly in a gloriously cosy restaurant. Pony has been on my radar for as long as I've been planning my Copenhagen / Noma / Arken museum trip - and knowing we had a food extravaganza the next day we'd planned to keep it light - and then we arrived and were so enchanted by the bread and delicious whipped butter that we immediately abandoned all light meal intentions and went for the set menu. Lots of lovely light, locally sourced ingredients, delicious fresh / crisp flavour combinations and phenomenal service from start to finish without even the slightest hint of sycophancy - the Dane's are so much cooler than the Americans and the Brits... It's a little more pricey than most but worth it for the food / service / atmosphere - a truly great place and, unlike Noma, one I envisage myself coming back to (partly because I'm much more likely to be able to afford to!) repeatedly each time I'm in Copenhagen. (And If they have radishes on the menu do it. I'll be dreaming of that miso dressing for a while!)

I had been waiting for a long to come here, and it did not disappoint! I brought a friend of mine here and we were both thoroughly impressed. The dishes are like little pieces of artwork, with an array of flavors! We tried the mussel dish with dill, the salted beef, the lamb dish, and the chicken...each one great in its own right! The waitress was great with pairing the wine, and we ended the meal with a delicious cheese plate. If you are looking for a unique place in the city which reflects new Nordic with exciting dishes and combinations, I highly recommend this place. The only reason why it didn't get five stars is that although our food was delicious,and out table was right next to the open kitchen, it was right by the door, so I kept getting a draft every time people entered or exited. Otherwise, it was a great evening!

On my first night in Copenhagen the boyfriend took me to Pony. I didn't know anything about the place except for it was hand-picked by my guy. I trust his taste and restaurant choices. Pony exudes romance, cozy with a very minimal and homey feel. Tables have very little space in between them enough to hear what your neighbors' are saying about certain dishes, or when they arrived and their complaints about Heathrow Airport (LON). I didn't mind that at all. In fact, cozy and communal is how the Europeans prefer their restaurant vibe. I love it. Makes me miss NYC! The bread and the tower of beautifully whipped butter was unforgettable. The boyfriend and I talked about these two food items for an extended period of time. We even asked for the recipe which they obliged and shared with us. The fresh radish dipped in miso and something else was also delicious! So good, we baked the bread and made the radish dish at home. Pony's approach to Scandinavian cuisine is so true to the flavors of the ingredients they choose to use. Simple, clean, tasty and a minimal elegance to presentation and plating. Pony should be on everyone's list when visiting Copenhagen.

I'm going to give this place 5 stars. I've been here twice - in a group of 6 and another time I took my boyfriend here for a birthday treat. Both times, we went for the set menu of the day, which consists of four courses plus warm bread that comes with whipped butter and costs about £50 each. The food is locally sourced and uses seasonal ingredients, which are cooked simply with a variety of methods to produce some tasty good grub. The wine selection is great and very interesting. The restaurant itself is very casual and cosy (Danish love cosy). The staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and offered a friendly service. I would definitely come here again on another special occasion to splash out on the great food and wine!
