Dissapointed. The setting is lovely, castle itself is beautiful and the service of the hotel staff is excellent. However, the food and service of the wait staff at the restaurant is lacking in comparison.

I had the pasta of the day, and for the price, 32 euros, I expected something much more flavorful. The sauce was thin, and it was more vegetable pasta than mushroom pasta. Although the dish itself wasn't terrible I was not impressed as I have been with other Michelin star restaurants.

My meal overall was mediocre, but my significant other had a terrible experience. He did not like his meal, sent it back, and had to reorder a dish. On top of that, it was very hard to get the attention of the wait staff throughout the meal, so it took much longer to rectify the issue. They still charged us for the meal we sent back as well, and did not apologize for the issue.

My advice to those staying in the hotel: Perhaps try this place once, but temper your expectations. There are much better Michelin star restaurants out there, and for a better price as well. Eat here at your own risk.

While the food is definitely high quality and possibly one of the better meals had in the region personally on this trip, the service deserves not a single Michelin star and therefore the price is not worth the visit.

While staying at the Chateau, my wife and I dined multiple times at both Le 1217 and it’s less formal counterpart in the courtyard. Each time, we were nearly ignored by staff (aside from the bar man), insulted by the sommelier who did not care that we were interested in purchasing a bottle (no descriptions of bottles, abrupt service, he apparently ran out out of multiples bottles we were interested in, but never updated the menu to reflect it over our near week-long stay, and to top it off made a smug retort to my wife as she complimented the chef’s cooking).

While the chateau itself is a certainly a special place, unless the restaurant staff makes some adjustments there are much better experiences to be had elsewhere nearby.

The ambiance is splendid, but alas, I had the great misfortune to order the club sandwich for the price of €30. What does a €30 club sandwich look like you ask? The concoction was more hard boiled egg than any other ingredient, and reminiscent of the shabby things one can purchase in the Paris metro for a tenth of the price.

Upon sampling it and discovering that the taste matched the appearance, I requested the €36 burger instead (though it cleared the low bar set by the sandwich, it was decidedly not worth the price of admission). When the bill came, I was dismayed to see the sandwich remained. Perhaps the language barrier was an issue? Whatever the case, the service was unapologetic. I would recommend the chefs try the sandwiches at Denny's for a starting point on the path to improvement.

I will say that the rest of the hotel is sublime, and that in no way does the review here reflect on it or the rest of the staff, only the restaurant.

Sehr guter Service, sehr schönes klassisches Ambiente, das Essen ist gut, aber eben nur gut, das Wein Pairing war exzellent. Die Zeit  zwischen Amuse Gueule und erstem Gang hat sehr lange gedauert, der Abstand zwischen erstem und Hauptgang war dafür viel zu kurz. Preise im Verhältnis gut bis hoch für das was man bekommt. Fazit: gerne wieder

Very good service, very nice classic ambience, the food is good, but only good, the wine pairing was excellent. The time between Amuse Gueule and the first course took a very long time, the gap between the first and main courses was far too short. Prices are good to high for what you get. Même si cela avait mal commencé avec une attente un peu éprouvante à l'apéritif, tout s'est bien remis en place au dîner. Des plats d exception servie avec une vraie gentillesse. Tout vient à point à celui qui sait attendre. En retour nous avons eu un service grande classe avec quelques petites intentions royales offertes gracieusement par la maison. Nous étions venus pour fêter la fin des études de nos enfants et nous ressortons de cette expérience avec plein d'étoiles dans les yeux et surtout des souvenirs impérissables. Beauté du lieu et accueil charmant à celui qui sait comprendre.

Good evening
Even though it started off badly with a somewhat tiring wait for the aperitif, everything fell back into place at dinner. Exceptional dishes served with real kindness. Everything comes in time to those who know how to wait. In return we had a high class service with a few little royal intentions offered graciously by the house. We came to celebrate the end of our children's studies and we came away from this experience with lots of stars in our eyes and, above all, unforgettable memories. Beauty of the place and charming welcome to those who know how to understand.
