Had a wonderful visit to Parc De Merlet. Saw loads of animals, beautiful views and lovely little restaurant for coffee and ice cream. Make sure you reserve a place and also arrive early as the walk up from the parking can be significant. Lovely little picnic area just before you enter if you are early too. Highly recommended for adults and kids alike.

Very well kept park, organised, with lovely relatively easy hikes and of course cute animals living their best life. The only negative thing was the despicable service at the cafe. We got up and left without ordering anything which was a first.

Zoo with a variety of local animals in an open setting with incredible mountain vistas. Entry tickets are good value for money.
Fantastic local restaurant is based on site with seating in shade offering food and drinks.
The zoo is on the hillside with well made trails with various options depending on how far you want to walk. Most are hilly but not too steep. Many paths have good sections in the shade. It’s easy to spot animals but don’t expect to see them all. We missed the marmots as they were asleep.
There is not a lot of parking so a walk of about 500m or so up a hill to get to the entrance is likely. If you arrive by train take a taxi to the zoo. The climb is long and very steep from the town in the valley.

This is one if the best nature preserves I have visited! Apart from the obviously gorgeous scenic mountain views, you'll find all the animals happy and roaming. The area open to them is huge so you will have to carefully search for them in the trees and on the cliffs. Except the llamas. They're going to be well out in the open. I encourage you to hike around as much of the park as possible because each animal has a different territory and terrain they prefer. We hikes every trail and found every animal featured in their brochure. If you're visiting in summer (before September) you'll find a shuttle bus available. Otherwise drive yourself or hike up. You get a discount for hiking up with a secret code found on the trail. There are toilets in the park and a restaurant, too. Staff at the ticket gate does speak some English, and parking lots are available if you're driving in.

Such a great spot to bring kids but be warned that there’s definitely an incline or two. The animals are all super chill and easy to spot. Would recommend for all ages. Definitely make a reservation in advance and be prepared to HIKE from the parking spots to the entrance if you’re not blessed to get one of the 10 or so spots near the top.
