Excited to visit Boulangerie Henri Gay on Av du Point du Jour after reading an article about its award-winning croissant, I set out on a bus first thing in the morning.
The bakery lived up to its reputation, showcasing excellent bread and viennoiseries. Curious about the traditional and plain baguettes, I asked the helpful staff and learned that the traditional one is made without chemical bread improvers. I tried it and found it excellent. However, my primary goal was to try the renowned croissant. It was indeed excellent, with the insides noticeably more fluffy and stretchy, almost bread-like. I'm not sure about the criteria used for judging it the best in France, but overall, it was an enjoyable visit, and at least we can claim to have tasted the best awarded croissant in France.

Étant de passage à Lyon avec mon mari, nous avons voulu goûter au meilleur croissant de France 2023. En fin de compte je me rends compte que tels titres ne veulent certainement rien dire.

Pour commencer, nous avons été accueilli par une dame avec une façon de parler très désagréable. Nous avons l’impression de déranger à ce moment. Malgré cela, on reste déterminés pour goûter à ces fameux MEILLEURS CROISSANTS. Dans la file d’attente interminable, dûe à la lenteur de service nous apercevons les premiers cafards. Dans un premier temps dans la vitrine, puis sur les murs du laboratoire de production visibles par les fenêtres.

Il serait beaucoup trop facile de dire que la direction fait tout pour faire face à ce genre de problèmes, mais il ne faut pas abuser non plus, puisque une fois que nous sommes passé à table pour goûter ces fameux MEILLEURS CROISSANTS DE FRANCE, nous avons découvert une garniture supplémentaire au CAFARD!!! Il y a d’autres façons de rendre un tel produit meilleur !

Merci la maison HENRI GAY pour cette expérience inoubliable. Je conseille à toutes les personnes qui seraient curieuses de venir goûter à leur production de s’abstenir, puisque même chez Lidl vous serez davantage satisfaits.

While passing through Lyon with my husband, we wanted to taste the best croissant in France 2023. Ultimately I realize that such titles certainly don't mean anything.

To begin with, we were greeted by a lady with a very unpleasant way of speaking. We feel like we are disturbing at this time. Despite this, we remain determined to taste these famous BEST CROISSANTS. In the endless queue, due to the slowness of service, we see the first cockroaches. First in the window, then on the walls of the production laboratory visible through the windows.

It would be far too easy to say that the management is doing everything to deal with these kinds of problems, but we must not overdo it either, since once we sat down to taste these famous BEST CROISSANTS IN FRANCE, we discovered an additional CAFARD topping!!! There are other ways to make such a product better!

Thank you Maison HENRI GAY for this unforgettable experience. I advise anyone who is curious to come and taste their production to refrain, since even at Lidl you will be more satisfied.
