Visit Sanki for an authentic Japanese dining experience

This is a Nice Japanese restaurant not far from Auber or Opera, not the best but for the price and location, it's just what I needed. They had some good choice of food but I actually preferred my starters than the main. The food came in no order, my main, the starter then my friend main meal. The food Seems to be done when you order it which mean that it came really hot and looks fresh! Don't expect to have a personalised service, they have to be quick and they are quick and efficient. So this is a good place to go if you are in a rush! 
Finally I went there it was quiet and in September so we sat not far from the entrance, it was a bit cold so during winter I would suggest you don't seat next to the windows!

Fresh ingredients, unfortunately the portions are very small. Had the Unagi grilled, 3 pieces (about 1" x 3" ea) tasty but not presented with the usual Japanese flair, Served with a bowl of rice. About 15€.

Nevertheless, if it's authentic Japanese you are looking for, you can't go wrong at Sanki.

I always love sushi when the seaweed is on point  Ordered a couple of rolls and the combo chirashi. Delish! Then got a combo black sesame and green tea ice cream. YUM. I loved the red bean paste on top of the green tea ice cream!

Paris is full of options for sushi. Unfortunately the vast, vast majority of them are pretty bad. Most have the same menu, with the same mediocre sushi, frozen gyoza, and flavourless tempura. Throw a rock and you'll hit one of these restaurants in Paris.

Sanki manages to be a cut above, ever so slightly. The addition of simple grilled fish to the menu (I recommend the mackerel), along with some extra care with their appetizer salads, make it a more attractive option than most. It also has attentive staff (who happen to be Japanese, for what it's worth) and a cozy authentic interior.

Unfortunately it's just a bit too pricey. The lunchtime sushi combo (8 pieces sushi, salad, soup or desert) is 19.50, which is at least 5 euro more than you'd find in a lower quality restaurant. Whether you want to spend that extra 5 euro is up to you.

the last time i had sushi this good, it was at the fish market in tokyo. owners are japanese. most sushi restaurants in paris are terrible, serve the same frozen food, and have the same uninspired menu of gyoza, skewers and boring maki. this is as authentic as i have seen in paris. try the eggplant appetizer. the salmon sashimi is high quality. the yakitori delicious. the maki enormous and fresh. the fried tofu, light and subtle. it is pricey but worth it. 10% off for to go orders. this place has been certified by the ministry of agriculture and fisheries in japan as being an authentic japanese food and ingredient supplier. it is the real deal.
