So when I contacted a friend from my business school days whom I haven't seen for more than a decade--except on facebook--about meeting for dinner during our Paris visit the last two weeks, she suggested a bunch of cool sounding places, one of which is accessible only by car.  So that's how we ended up at Restaurant L'ile (The Island), on an island in the middle of the Seine, because the other places we figured we could get to on our own using the Metro.  Ile St. Germain, unlike the urbanized Ile St. Louis and Ile de La Cite, is a much more open space with a public park for urban recreation and a huge restaurant in the middle of it all where you can get your car washed by hand while you dine for a mere 30 euros.

We couldn't get a table outside on the terrace, but were seated in the enclosed veranda next two open windows by their flower garden so it was practically just as good as sitting outside.  The a la carte menu was quite extensive and took some examination of the many choices but I finally decided on a raw salmon and mango salad appetizer which was cool and refreshing but my friend ordered best: her watermelon and arugula salad also looked cool and refreshing and had the most interesting presentation.  The greens were served atop a carpaccio of very large watermelon pieces giving the dish an added aesthetic appeal.

For the mains, Brian and my friend ordered two different fish dishes to satisfying reviews while I ordered seared duck breast in an apricot orange sauce with homemade fettucine served in a cocoon like mound.  This dish more than made up for the overcooked duck I'd ordered medium last week but was served well done.  And once again dessert was the star of the meal here.  I was served a large macaroon with pistachio cream and red fruits (raspberries and strawberries).  Brian ordered a simple strawberry and rhubarb "gazpacho" with a dollop of Bulgarian yogurt.  My friend had a brioche pain perdu (French toast) with vanilla ice cream and a delectable drizzle of caramel sauce.

It's always great to get off the beaten path on vacation and my friend's recommendation here was spot on.  We both loved the whole experience of our meal here.  The service was excellent and the food was superb but the real star of the evening was catching up with my friend and getting her perspective living here as an ex-pat.  Merci, mon ami!

It was busy, beautiful spring day on Easter weekend.  We only waited five minutes for a table and the service and food were great.  A lovely spot for an outdoor meal, away from traffic.

Sublime location, very nice interior. Interesting Menu, good service. In Summer the terrace and winter-garden must be a great place to eat. 

Food was alright. Took the 3 course menu and the main course was very good while the other two courses weren't as good as the price-tag would suggest. 

Negatives? The great interior is let down by lack of deep cleaning. Spider-webs and thick coats of dust in the (otherwise very nice) winter-garden. Cats running around in a formal, upscale restaurant is also a first for me - and I like cats. Toilets also have seen better days.

It's typical french restaurant, in a very beautiful area. It's as expensive as Paris overall, but the meal tastes great. I could also recommend it for large parties.
The waiters don't talk English.

Beautiful place, attentive and efficient service, but as noted by other reviews, food is quite common for the price. It is a great restaurant for a family or business lunch, with more expectations on the setting and atmosphere than what's actually in your plate.

This pricey restaurant is located, as it's name suggests, on an actual Island, île St Germain. As you can probably guess, the setting's perfect: a big house with 2 floors nicely decorated and with a wonderful sense of space that you will hardly get in Paris downtown. Now if the food and service were as perfect as the setting you could use this place to nail that business deal or hide a weeding ring in one of those fancy desserts. As it's not the case it's still good to be invited here... And have a very good meal overall...

A very poorly managed restaurant
I know this place since a long time . A year ago we had a bad meal, which i ignored, as the place was crowded and the weather was nice. Tonight, the seven of us were not happy with the food... cold, reheated, poor quality meat. The waiter was ready to change all plates ( i guess they know what is happening in the kitchen). I was most disppointed since I selected the place and since I picked up the check. Prices of main dishes look ok (if you get quality), but prices of wine is a rip off. Its a pity to see such a nice place being so poorly managed.

Best meal that I've had in Paris so far!   Quite possibly the friendliest place in town...walking in is like running a gauntlet of Bonjours!   However it is very classy and the atmosphere is amazing.   Food prices are high, but not ridiculous and by my tastes, food was exquisite.   I understand from locals that they only open at 8pm (20h00), so you may want to confirm before visiting earlier.

The restaurant is located in the park, there is pretty good atmosphere, the food is Ok , but the service is very poor.

l'ile is located on ile de gervais and a great place to eat location wise. the starter was a disappointment, rocket salad (a plate full) with a bit of parmesan. however all was made right with a delicious salmon with parmesan risotto.
If you want to take your love somewhere nice it is a good choice. the grand eating hall ans balcony or the glass covered outside area, i am sure you will have a good time
