great service from the chef himself. this small place is a passion project for him. creative all small meatballs concept works here. not all hits but even the misses are interesting tries. excellent wines and crusty bread but those are givens in paris.

Probably my most favorite restaurant during our family visit to Paris in 2019.

We went there for a late lunch, most places had quit serving lunch, but this place continues to serve until 4.
The menu is spartan. You have a choice of balls. You can have one set of balls or have a mixture of balls. These go with any option of two sides that they also serve. That's it!
However the food is wonderful! By limiting the menu so much they can really buy their passion and energy into the few dishes that they do serve. Plus there is always a veggie option. I was impressed after brief doubts over their limited menu. 
Well worth a visit on you're in the Rue St Denis area lunch before 4.

Nice little spot for lunch.

You order your food at the counter and they bring it to your table. The day I was there they had different meatballs (chicken, pork, veggie, etc..).

You get to pick  5 meatballs and up to 3 sides for a meal (extra charge for anything else).

The service was quick and friendly. The place is small so expect a short wait at peak times.

Wow this place is so worth a visit. You can choose 5 meatballs and they don't all have to be the same flavor. I tried the beef, chicken, and fish and they were all had incredible flavor. The side salad and carrots were also packed with flavor. We also had this amazing mayo butter type sauce that our waitress said we would love. For dessert we couldn't resist the fresh lemon meringue. It was super refreshing. This was our first meal in Paris ever and it was delicious and our waitress was so kind. She chatted with us a little about her favorite spots in the city and she did everything to make sure we were happy. Great start to Paris!!

As with most of the places we visited, the servers were welcoming and extremely gracious with using English to accommodate our French-language deficiencies.

Simple menu, you get a choice of 5 meatballs and 3 sides. With 5 meatball options, I had one of each and personally enjoyed the vegetarian and seafood the most (when we visited, the latter used fennel or similar herb to add a licorice-like flavor, which I'm a sucker for).

I expected to be writing about the meatballs, but the sides were really the star of the plate. Loved the mashed potatoes, the lentils, the cauliflower - really everything we tried. Delicious!

Who doesn't love a menu of meatballs! A vegan for sure but for the rest of us, balls are good! 

I absolutely loved this place. The setting is cozy and relaxed. The girl waitressing/bartending could not have been nicer and she really seemed to love her job. It was busy and she just handled it all with a smile and a great attitude. She seemed happy which sets a great tone. 

I have very limited French knowledge but she explained the menu in near perfect English. It's fairly simple - 5 meatballs and sides. I ordered chicken and beef meatballs. Both were good but the chicken was my favorite. For sides I had mashed potatoes and beets. Both were so delicious. 

I passed on dessert and had another beer which was a local Paris brew. 

I was dining by myself and felt totally cool doing that. You know how sometimes you feel like the place is couple overload. This was like a neighborhood place with couples, singles and groups. They also have outdoor seating and take away. 

Clearly I'm a fan; I had to stop myself from going again the next night to try something different. For sure I will be back.

Ok - I really was not expecting much. It was May 1 - Labor Day in Paris. Most restaurants were closed. I found Boulettes on Yelp, and it was delicious! Very casual restaurant. The food is freshly prepared - you pick the base and add meatballs! Very very good. And great services. 

Excellant for a casual lunch or dinner.

Boulettes is a hidden gem in Paris.  As two confused tourists, we were looking for something satisfying for a late lunch and stumbled upon Boulettes after doing some digging on Yelp.

As others have perhaps already said, a boulette is just a meatball.  But man does this chef know his meatballs.  He has a rotating daily menu and makes all of the meatballs fresh EVERY DAY.  The options are beef, lamb, chicken, fish, and vegetarian (but as I said, it can vary).  

For 14 euros you get your choice of 5 boulettes over a bed of your choosing (we had risotto, potatoes, and a few other options.)

On to the balls...

We both tried one of each, she got the risotto with cheese and chestnuts, I got the roasted potatoes.  WOW.  The best risotto I've ever tasted.  Creamy, cheesy, slightly sweet, kind of like rice pudding for a second and then salty and back.  It was amazing.  The chicken meatball (roasted chicken with pan gravy) was fantastic, as were the rest of them.  It was so good we debated going back again the next day.

Top it off with a super friendly wait staff, open kitchen concept, and the appeal of freshly made food and you have real winner here.  Please check this out if you are in the neighborhood.  I love to see places like this succeeding because you have a chef who really cares and is willing to take some risks.
