Wow, what a great experience last night for dinner. Our host/maitre'd/owner was great!  He's got very limited English speaking skills but we communicated just fine!  It was still warm and wanted to sit outside but it didn't look like there was enough room but when I asked, he said "no problem!"  On the table, we ordered onion soup, a pate, foie gras, escargot, and a "tomato carpaccio" with anchovies on top. All excellent!  For dinner, we had fish and two different type of duck plates. Everything was cooked to perfection. We ordered a bottle of Côtes du Rhône which went very well with the duck. Great service and superb food at a reasonable price. At the end, our guy offered us a aperitif on the house. It was a cognac. Great way to complete our meal. I'm thing we should have gotten dessert but we weee pretty full.  Anyway, we are running out of days but would definitely come back again.

We felt like we were welcomed into a family enterprise with smiles and quick service, even lacking reservations and a large group about to arrive.  Our best dining experience in Paris!

Staff makes you feel like you're at home. You get a detailed explanation of the specials, attentive service, and the food is amazing. It looks great, smells great, and tastes even better!

We stopped in for a delicious meal. I had the lasagna and my husband had the veal special. Both were delicious. The owner was very friendly and we really enjoyed our dinner. The molten chocolate cake was a great finish to our meal

We chose this restaurant not only because the reviews were very good, but especially because the reviews all seemed to be from locals. What better way to escape the tourist trail! We were not disappointed. The ambience is perfect, with both indoor and sidewalk seating, and the service was warm and helpful. Our meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. As we prepared to leave, the owner, Ale, enthusiastically offered us an after dinner shot of Calvados on the house. I can see why so many locals recommend De L'Autre Cafe.

Stopped for lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We arrived after the lunch crowd, about 2:30. Off the main canal area, less crowded than the other spots. We were greeted warmly by Ali, who speaks pretty good English but put up with my attempts at French. He went through the menu specials. My wife had eggplant stuffed with ground beef and, at his suggestion, the mashed potatoes rather than the rice. I was going to have the duck breast but again at his suggestion had the duck confit with potatoes. All were fantastic. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and had a good spice to it but not too much. The duck leg had crisp skin with moist meat. The potatoes were amazing. Sliced thin, about 1/8 of an inch, they were about the size of half dollars. They were pan fried in [duck fat?] and herbs. Unbelievable. We split a warm fig tart for dessert. Ali came by and gave us calvados on the house to finish the meal. Great food at reasonable prices. Place filled up as we ate, mostly with locals Ali seemed to know. Created a lively atmosphere. A wonderful experience.
