This restaurant meant a lot more to me than just the food that I ordered on my visit in April 2016. On my Dad's last visit to Paris (May 2012), my step mom and my Dad stayed very near to this part of Paris and they stumbled upon this small little restaurant one evening. My Dad loved his meal so much, they came back one more time before they headed back home. My Father passed away in February 2016 and I made it my mission to find this restaurant and have the same dish my Dad had ordered twice during his last trip to this beautiful city. 

The excitement I had walking the same street as my Dad 4 years prior was one thing, but finding and eating here was a very special moment for me and my wife. We walked in and we're greeted by the host. We were seated right away and I knew exactly what I was going to order, the Deep Fried Duck Confit. The duck was so moist and full of flavor on the inside, but a had a crispy fried skin on the outside. My wife ordered the salmon and hers too was quite delicious. We enjoyed a nice meal in this small, quiet restaurant and did a cheers to good health and to the memory of my Dad. 

I researched this place before I wrote up my review, and it looks like it may have permanently closed which is unfortunate. Hopefully they can find new ownership and make a comeback. If so, give them a shot and order the Duck Confit.

If you ever have to dine alone in Paris, here's the place to go!

On my last night in this lovely city, I found myself reluctant to pack for home, wandering the city, soaking up all that I could, which, led to soaking up as much food as I could before leaving!  

I sat outdoors and was immediately handed a glass of white wine.  The waiter kindly explained a few dishes in his broken English and I thanked him in my broken French.  The couple that sat beside me explained the food here was from the South of France, which is where they were from.  They were friendly and recommended the duck - absolutely!

I didn't hold back - I had a bottle of red wine, an appetizer, duck confit, and creme brulee for dessert.  Everything was rich and amazing!  Certainly something that should be savored at least once in your life!  Throughout the meal the waiter checked on how I liked the food and was so attentive that I really didn't feel completely alone!

New owner, the menu is short and looks about the same as when it was called "Le Sud Ouest". The food is now average and I'm not sure we will be back. The staff is nice though.

This restaurant was chosen by a friend of ours who lives in Paris and who we met on a trek around Mont Blanc.   It was close by our hotel and an easy walk and easy to find.  We are so glad we went here for several reasons.  First, the food was wonderful (they specialize in duck), secondly it has a down-home atmosphere where you feel completely removed from the normal Paris tourist experience.  It's also easily accessible as mentioned.  I would definitely return!

Foie gras!  No longer legal in California but when in Paris, have the tagliatele with foie.   Somehow a nice glass of dessert wine showed up next to it, a clean, crisp accompaniment!
