Excellent food. Excellent staff. Fair prices. 

We had the escargot, the grilled asparagus and the duck. All were delicious. 

Great atmosphere and a wonderful classic Paris cafe.

Great fancy atmosphere for dinner/drinks! We stopped by after dinner actually for dessert and wine, but we were not disappointed.

We were able to grab an outdoors table with a great view of the courtyard. 

The menu was pretty expansive and their dessert options were sophisticated and not too elaborate, which I really like. I asked the waiter for his recommendation for dessert and he recommended the creme brûlée, ice cream sandwich, chocolate mousse, and dark/white chocolate terrine with pistachio glaze. I picked the last one and it was 10 euros. My mom ordered the chocolate mousse. 

The desserts came really quickly and they were just gorgeous! I found the chocolate portion of the terrine to be decadent and sweet, maybe a bit too sweet. The white chocolate portion didn't taste much like white chocolate and the texture was kind of strange, but overall reallygood. The pistachio glaze though, that was what brought this dessert to another level! It tasted like melted pistachio ice cream but better.. omg I loved that stuff. 

This was kind of expensive, but the desserts were very elegant and high quality.

Tucked away near Pont Neuf, this little eatery sits in front of a small park just opposite of the Pont Neuf point.

Outdoor seating is limited and they are open for lunch.

For my visit, it was during the week and the place had a few customers mainly drinking coffee as it wasn't quite lunch time.  The host was also the waiter and was more interested in sitting outside at the far end than waiting on customers.  (FYI...I think this is a test to tell who is a tourist and who isn't....folks from Paris/France inquiry to seating.....Americans or tourist tend to wait for the waiter/host to ask if they want to be seated, so it took some learning on my part.)  

I was seated at the far end at a small table by the door............now as a individual tourist........that doesn't speak french hardly at all.......I have found the "defacto standard" is to seat me at the far end outside.......if you are individual tourist...just say no.........why?  Because if it rains, there chains are typically just BARELY covered by the awning, thus getting wet is almost guaranteed).

For this day, the weather was cool, but sunny, so the seating was fine.

Service was standard Paris.........slow, unattentative, and indifferent.

The food was actually good and to other reviews here, also a limited selection but pricing wasn't significant.

All the "so-so" notations above were forgotten by me as a watch Parisans walking to and from work and home and children played in the park.  For what this place lacks in what I desire, it makes up for in just pure good location.

FYI...if you consider this place, don't fear, there is an eatery on each side of this establishment, so you can still enjoy this location but perhaps patronize other other locations.

My grandparents ate here over 30 years ago on a trip to Paris.  As a result, we decided it would be fun to stop by for dinner on our recent trip.  The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. We speak limited French at best but the waitstaff was plenty willing to help us out. They even took the time to explain what a couple things were when the English menu wasn't quite clear. I loved my dinner here and can't wait to go back!

I'll start by noting that I'm an American foodie who lives in Paris near Place Dauphine, where this restaurant is located.  My husband & I have eaten there many times, and there's a reason we keep going back.

Much like the royal Place where it is located, Restaurant Paul is traditional, old school French.

- Food: Classic gastronomie like beef tartare, fois gras, bass & a dozen other staples. 
- Service: The servers & manager are attentive enough & care about their business. 
- Location:  Woody Allen filmed a scene from Midnight in Paris here, the central-most place in the center of Paris.  Neuf said!

I feel like the other 3 tourists who reviewed this restaurant before me expected TGI Friday's selection complete with "flair," with the same prices to boot.  There are no nachos on this menu. The service may seem slow to Americans because French people take 90 min for lunch & twice as long for dinner, and that's the normal pace here.  It's a good thing not to be rushed.

Make a reservation & sit on the terrace if the weather is nice - and bring your bocci balls.

I would definitely visit again. Delightful staff, Lucas was friendly and pointed out the framed first menu of the restaurant which was over 200 years old.  He was happy to ask the chef when we had questions about ingredients in the risotto. The restaurant is located in a beautiful hidden square called Place Dauphine, and so was not overcrowded when we unexpectedly arrived with 9 starving people.  They managed to seat us at two adjacent tables without any fuss or eyebrow wagging.  They do take reservations and if you have a larger party, you would want to make them. This is not a casual dining experience, it offers white tablecloths, slightly upscale pricing and guests can linger. Mon Paul serves typical French size portions (Small). It was very quiet when we arrived and with nine noisy Americans, it soon reached normal levels, though we whispered the first five minutes.  People eating nearby were friendly, also from other countries, so we do not know if it is popular with locals. Also, the menu was in French and English, which leads me to believe it is more for travelers.  Onto the food, it was eye candy, and impressive. The foie gras was amazing, you must try it. The escargot were superb and the best we had the entire trip, with the tastiest sauce.  We had the Sardines à l'huile  et pains toastés, which were of good size and very fresh.  I ordered the aiguilettes de carnard marinees which are marinated slivers of duck and honestly, it was four small slivers with foie gras risotto in crispy egg roll wrappers. Though the duck was tasty, it was not a meal. Sadly, the risotto was a miss.  The main dishes are the size of appetizers, so I would definitely get a starter and an entree if you want to walk away feeling satisfied. Others in our party had the filet with the foie gras and that was a luscious dish. The Duo de Homard et Rouget (lobster and red mullet) were dainty and delectable.  The size of the lobster and mullet were like large crayfish, just a taste more than a meal, though the sauce was AMAZING and everyone kept bringing their bread to that plate. The Filet mignon de voau au tard (veal tenderloin) was also delicious, but not enough food for an American man. Again, make sure you get a starter.  We had an appealing wine, a 2014 La Cazes Bellevue St Emilion from Bordeaux, France which we were only charged $24 a bottle for.  Wine is definitely cheaper in France so live it up and try everything. It sells for $20 a bottle in most US places though in a restaurant, obviously, they would charge much more.  The ONLY issue I had with Mon Paul was the lack of crumbing the table. The waiter did not whisk away the crumbs and I do not know if that is customary or not. There were no bread plates, so the table does get crumby.

I made a reservation for a very late dinner on a rainy July evening - and  was told to arrive before 10pm.  We arrived a few minutes before 10:00 but a RUDE (younger) waitress rejected us; thankfully, the very kind Mme. Véronique had the heart to welcome me & my daughter, and she was able to accommodate us for dinner.  If not for her, our night in Paris would've been ruined!  When they say Parisians are rude, they're not always right - except for heartless people like the RUDE YOUNGER waitress at Restaurant Paul that evening of Thursday, July 18, 2019!  She would be FIRED if that were here in the USA - such unacceptable treatment of a potential paying customer (just looking for a place to dine on a rainy night)!  My cousin has recommended this restaurant for years, and I'm glad we were finally able to go; if you go, I hope that young witch will no longer be there, and I hope Mme. Véronique continues to welcome guests to their fine restaurant!  MERCI BEAUCOUP, Mme. Véronique!!!

Without a doubt some of the best fish I have ever eaten, 10/10 would eat here multiple times over again

This restaurant is located on Place Dauphine, one of the loviest Paris' square, near Pont neuf and the Vert Galant parc. The view is the only good thing you'll find here. Everything is overpriced (example: 3 asparagus for 15€) , the sirloin beef we had was hard to chew and potatoes seemed to be reheat. Even if the profiteroles were good, this is a perfect tourist trap.

After reading the previous assorted reviews I feel compelled to to tell all that Restaurant Paul is excellent in all regards. The foie gras( pictured) is perhaps the greatest terrine ever put to plate in Paris or New York. The service is beyond attentive and all the staff was very friendly to this American who's French is nominal at best. Other outstanding dishes include the salmon tartare, escargot, steak and all the desserts. ( Terrific Profiteroles - it's the pastry) Unless you are a particularly rude and boorish Republican type I cannot imagine this staff not embracing you with their warm hospitality and impeccable service. Why am I so confident in my opinion - I've been in the restaurant business for the better part of 40 years and with so many dining choices in Paris - Restaurant Paul will always be my first and last stop when in town. Enjoy.
