This was the meal I looked forward to the most during my time in Paris. The wide variety of fish was incredibly fresh, accompanied by an array of sauces crafted by the chef, each bursting with flavor. The standout for me was the grilled scallops paired with rice — so fragrant and delicious. What I loved most was the dessert at the end. It wasn’t just about chocolate; instead, it featured a variety of flavors — tangy, sweet, and slightly bitter. We had a fantastic experience dining at Granite. The flavor combinations were excellent and every dish was presented beautifully. Our group appreciated the time taken explaining and preparing each dish, and the staff were welcoming.

We didn’t try the wine pairing, but I recommend trying the cheese course. The offering was well-liked by my group and didn’t feel like an afterthought. We had the Discovery Lunch menu, and I think even that whole set alone would be very satisfying. Overall, we were very full and completely satisfied with the meal.

Lastly, I’m thankful they accommodated my request for a view of the kitchen. The environment wasn’t stuffy or overly formal, so I highly encourage anyone wanting to try Michelin-level dining to spend their time and money here.

TLDR. Aside from the tip issue, everything else is worthy of the 1 Michelin star. Maybe 2.

The food was excellent. Worthy of the 1 Michelin star and frankly can give 2 stars in some places outside of Paris a run for their money. Service was as expected for a 1 star.

HOWEVER. When it came to the bill, it was a bit odd. We were under the impression that service was included, but my wife saw an annoyed look on the waiter's face when I paid. She asked me if I tipped. We both thought service was included. Not wanting to break etiquette, we asked a different waitress if service was included, and she was adamant and under no uncertain terms that "SERVICE IS NEVER INCLUDED". She repeated that multiple times and made it VERY clear.

Well guess what. That is bullshit. I was at another 1 star the night before, and the service was included. I was at another bistro the night before and the service was included, as written in the menu. And I was at yet another bistro and when I asked the manager made it clear service is included, and tip on top is optional.

So, I was going to give this a 5 star, but as I write this review the more and more annoyed I got. You are a 1 Michelin star restaurant and you have waitresses LYING to your customers? How many euros are you expecting out of that?

Out of respect for the chefs and the rest of the wait staff, but I do want to send a message, I'll give this place a 3 out of 5. The service otherwise was good but please do better at training your wait staff. If somehow you are different and service isn't included unlike most other places in Paris then please state so verbally at the beginning before we order.

Or just say service is included. Tip is optionally on top.

For what it's worth it's a black waitress with medium to big hair who was adamant that service was never included.

Warm welcome.
Minimalist interior. Clean lines. Super comfy chairs.
Service was efficient but not particularly warm. We weren’t made to feel special. It was a full service so it did feel like they were slightly rushed off their feet. So much so the sommelier kept serving my wine flight BEFORE each course was served. Don’t get me wrong each wine paired perfectly but I’d drunk 2/3 of the minuscule serving before the food had arrived.

The venison main was superb.
The pre-dessert was beautifully refreshing.
The mango passion fruit meringue concoction was a thing of beauty. It will certainly live in the memory.
But overall I left this culinary journey not really knowing who the chef was and what they stood for.
It was very technical. Lots of skill on show but lacked personality.

I preface the above having visited Restaurant Louis the evening before. There we were made to feel like part of the family. Conversations were had and laughs were shared with the front of house. We absolutely understood the chef’s personality. At Granite the human touch was lacking…

One last thing. Charging 18euro for two tiny scoops of chocolate ice cream for our little one. Really? Yes I get that it’s a business. It’s not a soup kitchen. But after having spent 500euro already, a complimentary ice cream may just be that thing you do to encourage a return.

Would I recommend you visit Granite?
Yes. It deserves its 1 star accolade.

Would I recommend you visit Granite over Reataurant Louis?
Hell no. Louis all day everyday.

Will I be coming back?
Nope. There are over 100 1-star restaurants in Paris. Competition is fierce!!

We had an incredible time and Granite. Every single thing was spectacular. I highly recommend doing the wine pairing as the wine choices will blow your mind. Every single dish was amazing and the accompanying wine added to its favor and depth. There were quite a few things that stood out to me like the beef. The tuna. The desserts. Even the amuse bouche was delightful, in particularly the mint foam soup thing which I’m sure has a much better name than that. We went for the granite option and I suggest that as well. By the end we were both nice and full. So happy with choosing this restaurant. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.
