Service was extremely slow and we were wanting to go quickly to the tour.  They did not give us our choices.  I prebooked the 50 euro breakfast with tickets.  Eggs were overcooked, unable to provide sausages, out of orange juice and it was frankly disappointing for the price of the breakfast.  The bread basket was the highlight of the meal.  Fantastic crossiant.

I recently dined at Ore Restaurant, located at the Palace of Versailles, and had a mixed experience. We tried the hot chocolate and a fish dish. While the hot chocolate was excellent and the highlight of our meal, the fish dish was quite disappointing. The fish had a strong, unpleasant smell and the taste was equally bad. For the price of €32, the portion was extremely small; you would need about two to three such plates to feel satisfied. This makes it very expensive considering the quality and taste.

Additionally, the staff was not friendly. When I found a fish bone in my dish, which was supposed to be boneless, the waiter’s response was dismissive, saying, “It happens, it’s a fish, sometimes we cannot take all bones out.”

Overall, the only reason I’m giving it 1 star is because of the hot chocolate. Otherwise, it would have been zero stars.

Very underwhelming overall. Felt like a tourist trap. Did not meet our expectations, especially given the price point/ unique location inside the Versailles Palace. Service was mediocre at best, starting with the host, who was quick to dismiss us on arrival with a swift “sorry, reservations only”, instead of a more logical “Do you have a reservation?”, which we did. Waiter did not provide any information on the menu, or recommendations, appetizers took 45 mins to come out, and they were just placed on our table, no explanation. Food was ok, nothing special. Has to ask for water multiple times. Dirty napkin. Did not feel upscale, would not come back.

I booked far in advance, but please be aware they will email you on the day of reservation to confirm you are still planning to attend. The location is wonderful and easy to find just as you leave Versailles Palace. The service was attentive and the food was wonderful - I especially liked the turnip starter and the lime soufflé. I think the price is very fair for the quality of the food. They also have a vegetarian option for starter and main.
