It was a great night. The food was beyond imagination. The best part was the sweet wine that was recommended by the staff there. The chocolate dessert was the best as well. We are absolutely coming back next time we are visiting Bourdeaux.

Food: The food at L'Oiseau Bleu was carefully crafted and very interesting to eat. My two friends and I had the pleasure of dining here in December of 2023 and tried the Wild Game Tasting Menu. What a treat! This was my first introduction to wild game and I thought the Chef did a great job of curating a menu around those ingredients. As three culinary students, we dissected and disccused every detail of the food. Overall, we were all very pleased. Coming from all different backgrounds, we had such a great experience trying the Chef's special menu. My personal favorite dish was the "King of the Forest" Which had an amazing jus and was expertly prepared. Some other dishes we liked were the hare and the amuse-bouche. One friend thought it was so good and the flavors were so nostolgic that he almost cried.

Service: Overall the service was good. They were very attentive and each waiter knew what they were serving. My biggest problem with the service was before the meal had even begun. We had a reservation for 7:30 pm and arrived at the restaurant at 7:29.30 pm. For some reason the door was unlocked, which the sommalier told us was a mistake. So they made us leave for 30 seconds before they could seat us. This is not an exaggeration.  Why couldn't they just seat us 30 seconds early? I'm not sure. But it left a sour taste in my mouth for the rest of the night.

Ambiance: The restauraunt was very nice. The room was nicely lit and decorated well. I thought it was a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.

Overall: I would definently try this restraunt out if you are in the area. The chef did a great job of creating a menu that has great balance. I would love to go back and dine there in the future!

Awesome meal! We had the 6 course tasting menu with matched wines.  Great service, nice setting under the canopy out the back.  Quite an informal feel. All the meals and accompaniments were very nice.  Subtle flavours rather than a smack in the mouth.

Fantastic.  Everything was great.  Our group of 7 friends visited Portugal and France for two weeks.  Prior to L'Oiseau Bleu, we had visited an one star restaurant in Lisbon and a two star restaurant in Porto.  Without a doubt, all of us agreed that L'Oiseau Bleu was the best among the three Micheline restaurants we visited on this trip.  The staff here was friendly, the wine choices were great, service was good, and the food simply exceptional.  We had the four course dinner and was very full by the end.  The fact that this restaurant costs a lot less than the other two we had visited is just icing on the cake.  Great value.  Highly recommend.

When you come into this restaurant, you never expect they have such a comfortable terrace.
What I really like is the sommelier. In France sometimes a sommelier is arrogant, snobbish, and cold.

But the sommelier here is very respectful and agréable person. Even though I ordered not pricy wine, he was explaining with passion and respect.
To tell you the truth, my husband is an alcohol professional and he was listening intentionally to the sommelier and was very impressed.
The service staff was very considerate.
At first we were going to order the most expensive menu but the lady staff noticed that were old and we were not able to eat everything so she suggested the other menu. All of this can not happen in orher economic-oriented restaurants.
I saw the staff laughing and talking at the  later time in the restaurant so maybe the staff communicate well one another to make this good atmosphere.
