I will not enter into trying to explain the mixture of tastes and flavours I had the opportunity to go through last night. It was an incredible journey that ended with a cheese apotheosis made of exclusively local products. Chapeau, they say in french 🙌 Staff extremely professional and close to perfection. Why close? Because I would have liked those souls to show some more genuine smiles but perhaps is not appropriate…? In any circumstance not to miss if around

We each ordered 1 starter, 2 entrees and 3 of us ordered dessert, and we ordered 2 bottles of wine/champagne so we have plenty to comment on. As a family who has been to Michelin-starred restaurants all over Asia, Europe and North America (and I live in NYC),  this is the worst experience we have ever had in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Especially for English speakers who aren’t great in French, this is not a very friendly establishment. The service and food were both sub-par, making it very hard to believe that this place has 2 Michelin stars.

Service: a few things that were glaring errors and not acknowledged by the staff.
First, we ordered champagne and the sommelier poured champagne into a wine glass for my mom instead of the champagne flute on the table, didn’t acknowledge or apologize or tried to change her glass later. So she had to drink from the wine glass the entire time.
Second, when we told the waitress that the starter (oyster) was too salty, there was no other acknowledgement or apologies, and the 2 entrees to follow were still extremely salty. Do the chefs not listen to their customers’ feedback at all?
Third, and this truly bothered me was that during the presentation of our entree( the steak), the waitress was cutting the steak into small pieces and plating, but she dropped a piece of the steak on the table! She still plated the steak into the plate without acknowledging or apologizing and still served my wife the steak. Honestly, this is unacceptable. Food safety and cleanliness should be taken seriously.
Fourth, we had many moments with empty water glasses, and the waiter asked if we wanted more water (we were only at the second dish).
Fifth, the finished dishes were left on the table for way too long (20+ minutes after we finished( before the waiters took them away.
Lastly, we had many of these issues but could barely voice it with the waiters because for the 3.5hrs we sat there, people basically didn’t come to check on us and we had to voice our feedback and needs to them before they can bring more water, etc. How do you not check on your customers?

Food: Although there are some decent dishes there was nothing that were particularly delicious and a few items were not good. And you’d expect every dish to be good from a 2-starred establishment.
1. Plating was just not that pretty.
2. The oyster dish was overly salty but also the flavors together didn’t work that well. It was very heavy and salty for a starter.
3. For the lobster entree, the lobster was cooked well but the sauce was so salty that it gave us a headache.
4. The predessert with the melons and soaked cake was not good at all.
5. The desserts were much better. My mom loved the Rhubarb but for the chocolate dessert the sour (possibly verjus) part was too much and overpowering the other yummy parts of the dessert. The quantity was just too much and doesn’t balance well.

Overall, this is not a place I’d recommend as it does not live up to the Michelin 2 Star standard. A more casual meal at this restaurant may be a better option. We were extremely disappointed given the time and money we spent here.

We really enjoyed our dinner at the Skiff Club. The menu is interesting; my started could have done with a little more seasoning; I absolutely loved the main course, amuse bouche, dessert. The wine was too expensive (hence only 4 stars) the service is excellent and atmosphere warm and friendly. Overall highly recommended, if you are looking for a romantic date night!
