From the moment we arrived the staff were wonderful. We had such a friendly greeting from Leo, who showed us to our room and explained everything we needed to know. Throughout our evening he was attentive and knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding area. Our room was beautiful, the hotel has been renovated to such a high standard. The bathroom was great and the bed very comfortable. We ate in a the brasserie, great food and lovely staff. The bar is stunning with an eye catching wall of colourful bottles, the barman makes great cocktails. This was a great stop. Maybe next time two nights. Thank you 😊

Absolutely fantastic place for the perfect relaxing break.  The building has been finished to the highest standard retaining many of the original features.  The staff were impeccable with nothing being too much trouble.

As for the food, we had one of the best meals we have ever eaten   from the tasting menu.

Also only 15 minutes drive to get to Nantes which is also a great city to explore.

Thoroughly recommended!

Wonderful relaxing place, wonderful delicious food, wonderful kind and professional people. The hotel is beautiful with spacious bedrooms and very efficient air conditioning! The place is very quiet. The brasserie for breakfast and lunch/dinner provides a higher quality product in a very nice place. It’s a convenient place close to Nantes and to the airport. Finally, the people working here are just the best! Very kind, professional, attentive / understanding, and helping. They make you feel good, relaxed, and seen. We are coming back very soon!!

The 17th century brought further challenges as the abbey came under the control of commendatory abbots—clerical figures appointed for political reasons rather than spiritual leadership—leading to a period of decline and neglect.

The tides of the French Revolution in 1790 led to the dissolution of the abbey, ending centuries of religious function and leaving the historic complex vulnerable to decay.
