A hidden gem.staff absolutely fantastic and audiovisual displays were amazing and in many languages. We could have spent hours here. Chateau was amazing and if it wasn't so hot you could have spent a good hour walking around the gardens. A must see and highly recommended.  English spoken and at 7eur per adult and children free it was a very reasonable morning of culture.

We spent the morning at this well restored Logis, learning about the history of the Wars of the Vendée.
There is an audio presentation in the first few rooms that you pass through - explaining the local history and the people involved - the guide us in several different languages so is easy to follow once you master the headsets. The staff were very helpful.
Several rooms of the Logis have been recreated with period furniture and the building is quite impressive.
Our favourite part was the formal gardens - complete with ornate box hedges, beds of poppies and a haha moat.
Tip: take a picnic to eat in the extensive parkland.

Great day out. Museum is well thought out with loads of detail for those interested in the Vendée Wars. The spectacle is also great fun and the logos superb. Great value.

Very French. But that's hardly a surprise. There is a "spectacle" involving 18c clothes, some sword fighting and a lot of shouting. The francophones seemed entranced. The costumes were good. I left, slightly bewildered. But my French, is, at best, basic. The exhibition of the Vendéan Royalist last stand would be interesting, I think, for a fluent French speaker. I had some understanding of history, thanks to Mike Duncan's excellent Revolutions podcast but I really didn't follow the exhibition. The Logis is what I expected, interesting enough. Our highlight was a very reasonable €2  per person carriage ride by a costumed and charming carriage driver. I like horses and with my French and our carriage driver's English, I found out a lot about Normandy cobs and heavy French horses.

Great historic house and museum catering well for the English visitor with comprehensive audio guides. Beautiful grounds and very interesting house and history relating to the revolution.
