Interesting location. Central for day trips although not much in the town itself. Our primary reason for staying after 3 nights in Marseille was to experience the 1 star Michelin restaurant- a bit of a disappointment. The food was okay however not good enough to overcome the clinical service which totally lacked any feeling. Service was overly prompt with plates cleared while the last bite was being eaten, wine pairing poured with no opportunity to peacefully finish the wine from the preceding course, the glass was just whisked away. Overall very disappointing and not a patch on other Michelin star experiences. Service rating is primarily to do with the restaurant rather than the hotel staff.

Not 5 stars hotel. Room deco nice but no hot water. After 2 attempts to fix with no result, we should have been given another room right away. Instead, we were made to wait again. After 30 min of waiting in my bathrobe, I phoned reception and was told we could move to room next door to take our shower. Simple apology that is all. Not up to par for a 5 star hotel.   Also Very disappointed with the one star Michelin meal. Fish dish was bland and didn’t taste so fresh. Other dishes was soso as well. I left at least 2 dishes unfinished. Not once did the waiter ask if all was ok. Very disappointing experience

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights.  Quiet,  new, clean in good location near Aix-en-Provence. And that’s it! these are all the advantages.
The hotel was chosen primarily because of the good quality of the restaurant.  but for breakfast for 30 euros we had  bakery (not fresh), bread, butter, jam, yoghurt, one type of cheese and salami and eggs . And no fresh juices, no fruits. this hotel was the first place in France during our two-week stay where we had not tasty bread.
My family was very hungry for lunch, we arrived at 13.35 and were informed that the restaurant was already closed for lunch.  To my request to make an exception - a refusal or only snacks.  There is no hair conditioner in the hotel, but after the failures with food, this is no longer so important.
It’s amazing how a nice new hotel in a great location can be ruined by terrible service.
PS. The Hotel answered that they offered  fruits, selection of cheeses and meet, pastries. May be, but we hadn’t any fruits , only 1 type of cheese and ham, and only not fresh croissants and chocolate bun (not tasty). And as I said earlier, this Hotel was the only one place in France, where we had not fresh bread and pastries. I think this is enough to make an opinion.

If your expectation is La Bastide Bourrelly will be the equivalent of a large 5 Star Hotel with staff attending to your every whim then I suggest you look elsewhere. It’s relatively small, and really an exceptional restaurant with a modest number of well-appointed, comfortable rooms attached. I’ve read reviews in which people pick out the tiniest details to criticise, but my sense is that expressed negativity is more reflective of a particular type of expectation than of the establishment itself. Our experience was excellent from start to finish. Staff at both check in and check out were friendly, helpful and easy to engage with. The room was tasteful, clean and very comfortable. I thought the bedding was very high quality, and I also liked the L’Occitane lemon scented soap. The pool was fun. At breakfast there is a small buffet with an additional array of juices and cereals. The waiter offers hot beverages and eggs. The important thing is to take your time and choose well, because when you look you appreciate that everything there has been provided because it is exceptional. It’s all worth exploring (ok - maybe not the Coco Pops). The coffee is lovely and the omelettes expertly cooked. We also had lunch in the Restaurant where it truly came into its own. The star of the show is the food provided through exceptional service from a very young front of house team. It was a Saturday lunchtime, we had the four course tasting menu with wine pairing. The restaurant was busy and buzzy and everybody seemed to be enjoying it, especially us. In the 24 hours we spent at the place there simply wasn’t anything to have a problem with. Hang on... the plug in our sink wouldn't seal, but luckily I've recovered.

Unprofessional staff and disappointing food. This is not 5* (no spa, no gym, small rooms and pool) and we felt so awkwardly unwelcome.

Food wasn’t great and the restaurant management was plain rude in addressing dietary needs. At breakfast, which is €30 pp, my friend with lactose and gluten intolerance asked if she can have three boiled eggs and some salad. The staff lady was very annoyed at us for asking and waived a menu at my face saying ‘we don’t do salad for breakfast’, then turned around and walked away. We got the eggs which took about 20 minutes to arrive and they were so undercooked that we couldn’t eat them. Almost sarcastically, the eggs were served with buttered bread soldiers... honestly left me speechless as it seemed intentional. I understand you may not wish to cater to allergies at the evening restaurant, but you must do so during breakfast.

Cherry on top happened after we left thanks to the reception staff. We forgot a small item in the room and the hotel posted it to my address without pre agreeing how much they’d like to charge my credit card for this ‘service’. It’s very convenient when you have a photocopy of your clients’ credit card and you can just charge whatever you want to it. In the UK it’s usually called fraud.
