Well I didn't realize that you have to put a deposit down per night even if you paid for your hotel in full ahead of time. So I didn't really appreciate that . I have had to put a courtesy hold for essentials at other hotels but the amount of courtesy hold I thought was a bit excessive. They wanted 150€ for each night that I was staying.

When I got to my room the air hadn't been turned on so it was a little warm. But after that everything was fantastic. The room was great and clean. The towels are probably the best hotel towels ever! Humongous bathtub,! The view at breakfast is amazing and the selections at breakfast were really good. I wanted to treat myself to breakfast on my terrace. But what they had on the buffet is too good to pass up.

The desk staff, concierge and wait staff in the restaurant were excellent by being helpful and courteous.  Unfortunately, the wait staff in the roof top bar on our second visit were just the opposite.  After serving some of the people at our table they never came back to the table to take the orders of the remaining guests so we had to get up from the table and hunt them down.  Then an hour went by with no one even checking in with our table to see if we wanted another drink, to order food, or take away dirty glasses.  Really disappointing for the group.

Our stay at the Sofitel in Marseille was a mixed experience. We booked through a travel agency site (Tablet) expecting to enjoy some guaranteed perks, but unfortunately, the hotel did not honor them, leaving us trying to figure out where the disconnect occurred.

The room itself was comfortable, with a cozy bed and a lovely view of the Old Port, which we appreciated. However, the location proved to be less convenient for walking around and exploring the city.

Another drawback was the towels, which were surprisingly rough and not up to the usual Sofitel standard. Overall, while there were some highlights, the experience fell short of expectations, especially given the lack of promised perks.

Only negative feedback is concierge was supposedly to make a dinner reservation I. Our 2nd night but when we arrived at restaurant- it was closed. Luckily- upon our return from cruise, we were able to get a dinner reservation. Service was excellent

I have stayed at other hotels in this chain, but this one was disappointing. Excellent aspects: valet service, concierge, and check-in. The rest was quite frustrating. Starting with the room, where the shower is partially enclosed, causing water to splash all over the bathroom. The room was also very dark and noisy. The ground floor restaurant had the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The breakfast restaurant was okay, but the products were not fresh. The rooftop would have been perfect if we had been able to sit in the outdoor area (it was empty and remained empty). Overall, very disappointing for a 5-star hotel.
