This restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and I loved the long wall hanging—it really stands out. The staff were so welcoming and kind, which made my visit even better. I’m especially grateful they were open on Christmas Day when most places were closed—it’s such a thoughtful gesture. The food was delicious, especially the salmon! It would be even better if they offered non-alcoholic wine, but overall, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend! 🎄

I had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Hauptstadtrestaurant Gendarmerie. A friend recommended it, and as soon as I arrived, I was greeted by an incredible atmosphere. Upon entering, my coat was taken, and I was escorted to a beautifully set table in a spacious dining area with high ceilings and a sophisticated ambiance.

The decor is steeped in Berlin’s history, with photos of famous figures like Kennedy adorning the walls, and even a piece of the Berlin Wall incorporated into the restaurant. One particularly captivating feature is a stunning 3D wooden artwork—it’s hard to describe, but it’s truly impressive and worth seeing.

The food matched the ambiance perfectly. I paired the sautéed liver with a glass of red wine, and it was delightful. At one point, my dish had cooled, so I asked the waiter to reheat it. He accommodated my request with a smile and efficiency, leaving a great impression.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but the experience, from the service to the atmosphere to the food, is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for a special evening out!

For a celebration, we chose Hauptstadtrestaurant Gendarmerie, and from the moment we called for a reservation until the time we left, our experience was exceptional. We were served by Blerim, an extremely professional and pleasant staff member who truly understands customer satisfaction. He managed each table with care while efficiently taking our orders. We opted for the salmon steak, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. As we waited for our food, we enjoyed a glass of white beer and tonic water to start the evening off right.

The entire team that night was courteous, polite, and attentive. The food was delectable, with rich flavors and perfectly balanced seasoning. The ambience in the restaurant added to the overall charm, making it an incredible dining experience. Overall, a ten-star evening, and we would absolutely return!

An absolutely fantastic dining experience at Gendarmerie! Their Bouillabaisse is nothing short of a masterpiece—rich, flavorful, and brimming with perfectly cooked seafood. Very similar to the Bay Area finest Cioppino or the traditional Ciuppin from Genoa, with every spoonful showcasing the depth of its high-quality ingredients. And let’s not forget the Schnitzel—one of the best in Berlin! Crispy, golden perfection on the outside, irresistibly tender and juicy on the inside, served with delicious sides that complete the experience. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, while the service is impeccable—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Be sure to take a moment to admire the imposing “Gendarm”, a breathtaking wooden relief by Jean-Yves Klein, which adds a unique artistic touch to the setting. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates exquisite cuisine in a stylish atmosphere. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Lovely interior and very pleasant environment and staff.
I made the mistake of ordering something I shouldn’t have - but that’s down to my personal preference and not the fault of the restaurant. I just wish, in hindsight, that I would have gone for something other than the schnitzel.

Service is great. The menu has a good selection of starters, mains and desserts
