It's actually a nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere but if you don't have a reservation they take you to the tables outside. There's always a line in front of the restaurant. The food is good but if you can get along with the waiter. First of all, the waiter comes to your table immediately when you enter. Since you haven't even looked at the menu yet, you ask for a minute but then the waiter disappears. It's very hard to catch up with him/her again. Then, if you're a foreigner, you have to make sure she/he fully understands the food. you want. We asked if they had chicken schnitzel, she said yes and brought grilled chicken. When we said it was wrong, she left the plates as if he was throwing the bill at us and said, "This is what you ordered." My son's steak came out bloody and almost uncooked even though we asked for it to be medium rare. It takes a very long time for them to bring it after the order is placed, especially if there is a mistake. Good luck to those who go.

We ate here a couple of times while we were in Berlin and the food and service were both great. Proper hearty German food, big portions, loads of local beers, great atmosphere and reasonably priced.
We had the half pork knuckle and ox cheek the one time and port medallions and sausage the other time.
Good service too! All in all a great place and would recommend to others, just be careful around lunch as it does get busy!

On the afternoon of 13th August 2024, I visited Restaurant Maximilians in Berlin, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, I encountered poor service, mediocre food, and an overall unpleasant dining experience.

Firstly, the food was nothing special—the flavours were average at best, and the quality did not justify the price. What was even more concerning was that shortly after the meal, I experienced stomach discomfort, which made me question the freshness and hygiene of the food.

However, the biggest issue was the terrible service. While I do not expect overly attentive service at all times, I do expect basic courtesy and professionalism, neither of which were present. The staff were unfriendly and inattentive, making us feel unwelcome throughout the meal. The worst part came at the payment stage, where one of the cashiers displayed a disrespectful attitude—both in their tone of voice and facial expressions. The dismissive and condescending manner in which we were treated was completely unacceptable.

Overall, this was one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences I have had. With poor food quality, disappointing service, and an unwelcoming atmosphere, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. There are many better options in Berlin, and I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for a more enjoyable and respectful dining experience.

We were able to walk in twice without an reservation. Staff were generally friendly and efficient. The place is clean at first sight and comfortable to sit in.

Food were served shortly after ordering. All of them were so tasty which was precisely the reason why we came back again just to try out other items on the menu.

The pork knuckle was fried perfectly with crispy skin. Seasonings were on point did not make us super thirsty while eating.
