During a recent visit to a so-called “progressive” German vintage restaurant in Frankfurt, I was left feeling underwhelmed. While the 360-degree view from the 39th floor is undoubtedly a standout feature, that's where the excitement ended. The restaurant itself felt cramped, and the open kitchen only worsened the situation by allowing the smell of food to invade the dining area. Although I did appreciate the convenience of coat storage on the first floor, that was one of the few thoughtful touches. Sadly, the overall experience was far from impressive—the food didn’t live up to expectations, and the atmosphere felt lackluster and uninspired. For a city like Frankfurt, this spot didn’t quite hit the mark.

Visited for drinks and dinner on a rainy and windy winter's night and it was still totally fabulous. The views were fantastically wonderful, food and cocktails was great and the very accommodating and friendly service deserves more than a mention. They are certainly on the pricey side but very worth the money especially for a lovely romantic night out. Hugely reconmended and will return if I ever visit Frankfurt again.

Fancy spot and with a view!

On my last night in Frankfurt, I treated myself to a solo date night at Franziska, and it was an experience worth savoring. The ambiance was elegant, with the best view in the city.

The dinner began with bread and a welcome bite.

The I had the Organic Egg served with Caviar, Mustard Dill Cream, and Crisps. The combination of the caviar's saltiness with the tangy mustard dill cream was amazing.

Next came the Udon Noodles with Truffle Foam. I opted to skip the ham chip. The dish was the perfect amount and noodles were perfect. The truffle foam was yummy and not too over strong.

The main course was the Redfish baked in Beer Batter was accompanied by a Potato Salad Cream, Caper Remoulade, and Garden Cucumber Salad. The fish was tender and amazing. The cucumber salad was a refreshing counterpart that I absolutely loved.

A night well spent!

What a surprise!

Previous German “fine dining” experiences have been substandard, so I did not expect much from the restaurant and have been avoiding it for some years now (only went because of the views (and yes they are amazing)).  I left more than satisfied and would most likely be back… what a pleasant surprise!

The good: very attentive and knowledgeable staff provide a friendly and non-pretentious atmosphere; quite a large selection of dishes to choose from (this turned out to be a real blessing as my party could eat cauliflower and steak whilst I try out Blutwurst, Saumagen and Leber); relatively quick dinner; dishes were wonderfully plated; and the spectacular view added to the experience.

The sub-optimal: we were never informed of the wine pairings; the wine menu was a bit difficult to navigate even with the help of the sommelier (who was friendly, lively and realistically knowledgable - what I especially appreciated was that he went and researched something after he couldn’t answer a question I had and then we could discuss it a bit more at a later stage; this greatly added to the non-pretentious and comfortable atmosphere); the party needs to decide for the small or large menu (would have been wonderful if this could be combined - yes it is sub-optimal for those wanting the 5-course menu, but a gourmet should not be restricted because someone else has pre-eaten (not necessary for Franzi by the way); and some of the food explorations were a tad rushed.

All in all, a pleasant surprise! Considering the attractive price point, I might start visiting the restaurant more frequently for business dinners or to introduce acquaintances to fine dining.

We came here to have dinner on a Friday evening while enjoying the Frankfurt view.

We were welcomed by friendly staff who took us to our table. We were a bit disappointed by its location, as it did not face Frankfurt’s skyline.

My girlfriend and I chose the 4-Gang menu.We were surprised by the presentation of each of them. Although for cheese plate could have been better.

From a culinary perspective, the noodles were for me the highlight and for her the Kalbries.

Overall, we were satisfied with our experience and are planing to return. Although, next time mainly to the Bar!
