Had dinner on a surprisingly busy Monday night. Started with cocktails, which were incredible. I had the A5 Wagyu steak which was perfect. However, my wife was disappointed with her Vegan sushi. The wait staff was charming and warm. The service was slow though.

I am not a restaurant professional and my statement is completely subjective. When I entered the restaurant I was impressed by the interior, and that is it! The reception is not manned all the time which makes it hard due to the fact one has to wait in line to get seated or help.
We had a reservation for a dinner on Saturday evening. “Unfortunately” we came a little early, so we had to wait for our table. This was not a huge problem for us because we thought we just crash the bar and have a drink or two. Came out this was not a good plan. We waited for 20 minutes and asked the waiter twice if we can order a drink. Nothing happened. After we have been brought to our table almost 15 minutes too late, we had the opportunity to wait for 25 minutes to order.
What I found the most irritating is that there are so many students working. Since I am a teacher I recognized so many students which is not a problem for me but it came out they were definitely not familiar with the menu. We had wrong drinks and asking the waiter to ask and come back he insisted that it was the right one. After talking to another waitress it came out it was the wrong drink.
The mains are huge so you can definitely eat and don’t have to nibble around. Sides are way too small for the price, also I was shocked when seeing the price for the truffle mayonnaise: 6.99€
All in all, it was an interesting experience and I felt like the waiters really had to hurry and run around. But therefore it did not feel special and intimate.

Where do I start?!

A little confusing at first as the building houses 2 different types of restaurants. Entrance to Zenzakan is inside the White Ivory restaurant (very German cuisine) via very huge mahogany ancient doors up a few flights of stairs in the middle of the White Ivory restaurant. There are other rooms when you make it through Nania (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe style of entrance into another world). Unsure if these rooms where part of the White Ivory or Zenzakan. Anyhow there's a very wide and large red oak/mahogany wooden stars leading downstairs to Zenzakan. You should have burnt enough calories by now.

Are you hungry? Good. There's a treat awaiting your eyes as you walk into this exquisitely decorated restaurant. The ambience is like something out of a glossy high end magazine. The staff are very welcoming and they speak perfect English too (for non fluent/non German speakers). Menus are in both English and German.

The dishes are served in a very timely manner and what a sight to be behold as they were placed on our table. The food tasted just as delicious as they looked. Chef's kiss!

Overall, beautiful ambience and delicious foods and excellent service, but for the price tag I wouldn't expect anything less. Somewhere to go to on special occasions or just to treat yourself (because you deserve it)   and experience fine dinning. Dinner (starter, mains and dessert) for myself and my friend with a glass of wine each and a bottle of water came to just under €200 (including tip). No complaints. It was worth it and I would go back again.

Con: the lighting was a little too dark for my friend to really appreciate what was on her plate, but her taste buds were delighted at the taste.

Highly recommended if you have the budget for it.

We have no complaints about Zenzakan. The booking is easy, and communication is quick. It is also very easy to modify as we had to modify our time after a busy day.

We had brief trouble finding it but the valet outside the ivory club quickly noticed and guided us through the restaurant toward zenzakan.

The staff are attentive and have one of the quickest response timing we’ve experienced. The food came in a timely manner, not too quick not too long. Waiter had great recommendations and great energy.

Atmosphere was lovely and other customers were great as well and everyone seemed at ease and kind. Would highly recommend this place.

Between two people, with tip, mocktails, and dessert, spent €300.

The restaurant doesn’t include service tip in the final bill, please remember to tip!
