The food is Michelin star quality. Absolutely stunning in flavor and presentation! We didn’t get a chance to stay at the hotel but we ate at the restaurant. The outdoor garden is beautiful close to the river. We are sure to return someday.

We had a great stay in this hotel. It is very nicely situated close to the river and in the charming Balduinstein.
The rooms are large and very clean and with a romantic touch. And as this is a bear hotel, we had a nice bear waiting for us on the bed.
It is a family hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
And then there is ... the food. Great breakfast with a lot of options. We also went for dinner in the evening: a combination of great wine and food. Fine dining and I truly recommend the hotel and the restaurant!

The food is the most refined gourmet level. Even a simple bowl of vegetable soup is a memorable experience. I had returned late after an event and decided to have a light dinner of soup, and it was so satisfying. Such refined, delicate flavors. I opted for a small single bedroom, and found it conveniently laid out, quaint, clean, and cozy. I loved the decorative teddy bear and quality chocolate snacks provided. The bathroom was current chrome-and-marble elegance conveniently laid out with all conveniences. As a former decorator, I especially enjoyed the hotel's decore and took many photos, especially of the window nook at the second floor landing, a booth of elegant woodwork and lighting. One day a chess board lingered there. I read my Upanishads with great contentment, occasionally glancing out at the forest-framed river or the medieval clock tower with the mountains surrounded by mountain and sky. The hotel is set on the Lahn river, and one can take beautiful walks along it through the woods or through the quaint little village and see castle ruins. I should mention that the service was very good.

Second visit in recent times to the sleepy wonder that is Balduinstein. Room was spacious, clean and quiet with a lovely view over the Lahn.

We ate at short notice in the restaurant but were accommodated graciously. The meal itself was fantastic. This really is a chef that knows his stuff. An excellent appetiser of Beef Carpaccio that stimulated the taste buds was followed by a Leg of Lamb that could only be described as sublime - perfect cooking and  a sauce that complimented, enhanced and just about any other adjective you could care to think of.

Rolled up with a fine Crème Brulee and washed down with a decent wine, from a comprehensive list.

Worth making a detour for, just wished we lived closer...
