Our recent stay at Avaton Resort Halkidiki was underwhelming, particularly considering the premium price point. The rooms were uncomfortable and did not meet the expectations for a luxury experience. Privacy was a major concern, especially in the rooms with private pools, where every other guest could easily see us and staff would be in the pool space unannounced.. The design of the bathroom was small and disappointing, more akin to what you would find in a small well-maintained serviced apartment rather than a luxury resort.

In room 204, we were regularly disturbed each morning by the cleaning staff, who gathered on the stairs near our entrance to chat, as their storeroom was directly across from us. This made for a less-than-relaxing wake-up experience.

On the positive side, the beach and dining areas were a highlight, providing an enjoyable atmosphere. Special mention must go to Penny and Vasili, who were outstanding. Their attentive and polite service stood out and should set the standard for the rest of the staff at what is marketed as a luxury resort.

Unfortunately, overall, Avaton Resort does not offer value for money. There are other resorts at similar price points that provide the privacy, luxury, and consistent high-level service one would expect from a five-star establishment.

It was one of my most regenerative holidays I've had in a long time. This was mostly possible because of the caring and attentive staff. They were truly amazing, everyone was so friendly, helpful and professional. We felt the whole time like being in a cozy bubble :) thank you once again. Also the hotel is truly beautiful, the rooms are very aesthetically arranged and established with high quality furnishings. Also the local Kayak guide from the hotel, Pantelis Efthimiou (@carduus outdoor activities), did a truly amazing Kayak tour with so many beautiful tour spots and interesting stories about the area, be sure to book a kayak tour with him at the reception - you don't want to miss this!

Extremely disappointed with the lack of seriosity from the person in charge of wedding planning.

We have been waiting for 2 months already for our wedding offer, and despite contacting the personel multiple times, all we are receiving are false expectations of “until Sunday you will have it”.

Now that I have reviewed all the past feedback left on this subject, I see that this is an action AvatonLuxury Beach Resort is embracing in many situations.

I do not recommend it.

very nice peaceful place with very friendly people and authentic service! clean and the quality is very good. The beach is clean and the sunbeds very comfortable. we wanna come back!

My family and I stayed for 9 nights in junior suite with private pool. We liked the beach (it is clean, calm) and the serenity around the resort. The air quality is very good. The staff was very helpful and willing to assist as much as they could. I also appreciate the goodbye gift- thank you to the staff!

However,  for such a resort, the following experiences are unacceptable and need to be fixed by the management before the season starts:
- In the first suite a huge amount of water was coming out of the shower cabin and then it started smelling sewage. The repair person came and cleaned it and said that he needs to put silicone to seal the water from coming out. We refused to have any work done as this is dangerous due to VOCs that silicone releases and it’s also unacceptable to ruin a client’s vacation with construction/maintenance work, which must take place prior to the start of the season.
- After 1 day, the resort staff changed our suite and put us in a different but same category suite. Again, in this second suite the water was coming out but much less. The first night we slept at the second suite, my child woke up crying due to the light of the exist sign. We could not go back to sleep due to the light and had a horrible day. The Hotel staff gave us a massage gift card for having remained without sleep at night (because the exist sign light did not have an off/on button and an electrician had to open it in order to deactivate the light.)
- Both suites had mould in the bathroom tiles.
- The elaborate turn down service was not provided daily (only half of the days we stayed there).

In addition to the above the resort is not child friendly (referring to toddler age). There are no available outdoor playgrounds. There is one “container” with some toys and paid services which is not adequate. So, my family had to go to nearby villages to find playgrounds for our toddler. Plus, staying 9 nights was very long under all the circumstances mentioned.

The table in the balcony of the suites has  sharp edges. Our toddler once ran and hit one of the edges almost on his eye (few millimeters below) and he had a bruise. So, please put silicon edge protectors, not just for kids, but also for adults who might get hurt on thise sharp edges if not careful.

The food was not something I would rate as extremely good, plus it was not bio/organic. So for families like ours who feed our kids only organic produce this may be a problem. Moreover, for more vegetarian/vegan persons focused on bio, fully healthy, and not fried and grilled products, choices are limited.

Lastly, as the resort is proud of its sustainability practices, I recommend removing all non sustainable cleaning products which release a number of VOCs and other dangerous chemicals and using steamers and certified EWG products. I could smell the mixture of different chemicals from next door suites, as for ours we requested steamer.
The resort uses Oeko-tex standard 100 towels which is good but having oeko-tex organic cotton towels and beddings would is much appropriate.
