starters and light bites
Begin your culinary journey at Bougatsa Chania with their signature bougatsa pastry. This dish can be enjoyed in two delightful ways: either as a savory cheese pastry filled with local Mizithra cheese or sweetened with a dusting of powdered sugar and fragrant cinnamon for those with a sweet tooth. The pastry’s golden, flaky layers provide the perfect texture contrast to the soft cheese inside, creating an irresistible start to any meal.
mains
While Bougatsa Chania’s menu centers around their exquisite bougatsa, this dish serves as a substantial main course ideal for breakfast or a light lunch. Its unique preparation using local Mizithra cheese sets it apart from traditional Greek versions, offering a less creamy and more nuanced flavor profile that both locals and visitors cherish.
desserts
The bougatsa also shines as a dessert when generously sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, delivering a sweet and aromatic finish to your meal. This simple yet classic option captures the essence of Cretan baking traditions and pairs beautifully with a warm cup of traditional Greek coffee.

Tried the two most popular places with Bougatsa in Crete, this was the first one. According to Bourdain and Mark Wiens, this is the best of the two. There is only one variant available which is the savoury bougatsa made with myzithra (goat cheese).
