This place was my favorite in all of Greece. Off the beaten path.. behind the church we happened upon it on the way back from Kookoos on the main road. What a delight!!  The ambience is absolutely wonderful!  Acoustic guitar music so beautiful. Very romantic with candles burning in the wall alcoves. Owner Spiros sat and visited with us and said he wanted it to feel like his home.. and it absolutely did!  We chatted to the people next to us. And the owners dog was so polite, and laid down next to me. The food was amazing. We totally submitted to his recommendations since it was the last night before they closed for winter (Nov 2 or 3rd?) such a fabulous place!

On our last night in Santorini we decided to go to Candouni...best decision for the trip. It feels as if you have entered your fun Greek uncles home and all your grandma's shit surrounds you in the best way possible. It's family! The fun Greek uncle is the owner and all the staff are his fantastic friends. This is how they make you feel, you are home with them, enjoy it! Also, the food is delicious! 10/10 recommend. Also making a reservation is probably a good idea.

Live music was a nice touch. Decent well cooked food, we didn't get a table outside where the music was we didn't have a reservation but they took the effort to offer a table outside with better ambiance (we never asked) when a table freed up at dessert time.

Far and away the most exceptional dinner in Oia, tucked two steps from the tourist packed streets. Do yourself a favour: ignore the petty reviews, say « yes » to all of their recommended additions and relax - you’re on holiday! You’ll be eating food that tastes as if Yaya made it herself with love, while live Greek guitar music plays and candles burn all around you. 10/10 experience and food, the charm of it all. The fried sardines were hands down the all star of this meal. Paired with the suggested potatoes, exquisite. Not to be missed. A gem. The authentic Greek experience we were craving. PS give the dog a pat, « little cow » adorable.

However, I made the mistake of taking a few videos and photos, which seemed to upset the owner. He was quite eccentric and, frankly, a bit moody about it. Once I explained that we were there to enjoy the food, he lightened up a bit, but his demeanor remained a bit off-putting.

While we usually appreciate engaging conversations, the owner was quite talkative in a way that felt more serious than welcoming. It put a damper on our vacation vibe, and we found ourselves wishing he would relax a little and enjoy the moment with us.

As for the food, it was a mixed experience. Some dishes were delicious and showcased the flavors of Greek cuisine beautifully, while others were tough and overcooked, leaving us feeling a bit confused about the meal overall. It was a shame because we had high expectations based on the restaurant's reputation.

Despite the awkwardness with the owner, we found some solace in the lovely atmosphere and the presence of the owner's dog, who joined us throughout our meal. This furry companion brought a touch of joy and warmth to the experience, reminding us to appreciate the little things.
