This is a wonderful hotel!  Beautiful rooms, fantastic staff and delicious food. They have a call list  for the Northern Lights and fabulous geothermal hot tubs.  The front desk organized a buggy tour for us.  It was an excellent adventure and I loved that they all had done the tour

Great stay late December. Perfect location on our way towards the glacier lagoon. Spent 2 nights. Did not get lucky enough to see the northern lights but were impressed by this hotels special touches (roses in the room, coloring book for my son, mini bar included).  Frederick greeted us warmly with a chocolate for my son. Wonderful service continued throughout our stay. Great breakfast and dinner. We initially had been hesitant about the cost but it was well worth it. Treat yourself!

Amazing boutique hotel in Hella. We booked here for the northern light and nature and this hotel fully met our expectations!! We saw northern light 4 times in 2 days. It's surrounded by horse farms. The river has salmon! 1 hr away to black sand beach, glacier, ice cave and waterfalls. Hotel room was very clean. We had walk out to hot tub. Food is amazing from taste to plating. Drinks are great. The owner was there and came chatted with everyone. Highly recommend this hotel.

The service and location are great, especially if you are trying to view the northern lights.

The Standard rooms, however aren't that great. They were dated, which is fine, but the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. We requested additional pillows, but still had terrible sleep. The room temperature was also very warm (25°C) and even with our heater turned off, we had to sleep with the window open (in January) to get any cool air. Showering only made this worse, since the bathroom fan is weak.

I'd recommend staying here only if you want to pay extra for a better room as I hope those might be more comfortable. The service and on site amenities were great and we appreciated the small personal touches, but overall I don't think the Standard room was worth the price.

We didn't stay in the hotel, but we are in the restaurant. We enjoyed the food a lot  especially the mushroom soup. You should call to make a reservation if you aren't staying in the hotel.

While we were eating, the staff let us know there were especially good northern lights outside, and held off on giving us our entrees so we could go see them. This is a beautiful spot to see the aurora, because they intentionally keep their lights low, and seem to own a wide expanse of land with no buildings on it.

After dinner, we went to the observatory, which is also open to non-guests. An astronomer was there, pointing the telescopes towards celestial objects of interest and answering questions. The observatory is outdoors, but the walls protect you from the wind. It was a wonderful experience! I recommend calling ahead to ask what hours the observatory will be open that night.
