A warm and a bit rustic environment. This restaurant was full to the brim so i recommend a reservation. The food was very flavourful and the portion sizes pretty large for this type of a restaurant on the verge of being fine dining. Great flavour combinations overall. The dessert was the only thing that seemed very basic and a bit out of line with the rest of the menu. We had some problems with the service (wine pairing was missing a wine, but this got eventually resolved with apologies from the staff). If you want to step out of the Icelandic fare that is served around the city center into a world of middle-eastern-icelandic fusion, recommended.

We enjoyed fantastic food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere at Sümac. Without a reservation, we still got nice seats at the bar. We shared a starter, a light dish and a main course - all veggie options. Prices are steep, but the experience and quality is worth it, in our opinion.

Beautiful, lively Mediterranean restaurant.  My wife and I dined there for my birthday on our last night in Iceland.  I had seen the restaurant on the Netflix series, Somebody Feed Phil.  One featured dish was the Lamb ribs which I selected.  They were outstanding.  Everything was.  Our cocktails, entrees, as well as out desert.  I also tried a Lebanese red wine which was excellent with the lamb.  I was also treated to an excellent port to accompany the dessert to help me celebrate my birthday.  The restaurant is certainly worth a visit.

Food: excellent! So many unique and delicious choices. Avoid the falafel - too dry - otherwise absolutely delicious!

Sumac has its warm and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed a delightful seven course tasting menu, where each dish was a flavorful masterpiece, beautifully presented and incredibly satisfying. Our server, Lia, was friendly and attentive, enhancing our dining experience with her excellent service but was very busy. For an unforgettable meal with outstanding food and ambiance, Sumac is the place to be. Highly recommended!
