On the ground floor of The Edition Hotel in downtown Reykjavik, you'll find the stunning restaurant Tides. For the past two years, Tides has received a Michelin Guide recommendation, and it truly lives up to that prestigious recognition. Every dish was beautifully presented, delicious, and unique. Tides offers a comfortable atmosphere with relaxing music.

It's worth heading up to The Roof, the bar on the top floor, either before or after your meal—or both. The view from there is absolutely breathtaking.

Fairly disappointing all round for the cost. Food was very hit and miss - the croquettes were sublime, though muscles were average and soup served lukewarm. Mains were all ok, but nothing special or memorable. The service was particularly poor - although friendly, we had to ask three times for a spoon to actually eat the soup, had to ask for the cocktails to come as they had been forgotten, and the brioche came at least 5 minutes after the mussels had been given as the starter. Wouldn’t return unfortunately.

One of the culinary highlights during our stay in Iceland was undoubtedly this restaurant at The Edition. Though this menu wasn’t focused on traditional Icelandic dishes, the flavors, presentation, and ambiance made this one of our most memorable family meals. Conveniently located within the hotel, it’s a spot I’d highly recommend even if you’re staying elsewhere in the city.

We started our evening with a few appetizers, and the standout was the mussels. Served in a fragrant broth, they were tender and perfectly seasoned, making each bite a delightful experience. The broth was rich yet balanced, perfect for dipping the accompanying crusty bread. The tuna tartar followed, showcasing fresh, high-quality fish with just the right amount of seasoning. It was light, refreshing, and had a lovely balance of acidity that prepared our palates for the main courses.

For our entrees, we ordered a mix to share family-style. The chicken was incredibly juicy, with a crispy skin that delivered both texture and flavor. It was well-paired with seasonal vegetables, adding a touch of freshness to the dish. The lamb gnocchi was a highlight—the tender lamb melted in your mouth, complemented by pillowy gnocchi. The sauce had depth, rich with a hint of sweetness that tied the dish together beautifully. Lastly, the saffron risotto was creamy and luxurious, the saffron imparting a delicate floral note that didn’t overpower. It was perfectly cooked, with each grain maintaining a slight firmness, creating a delightful contrast to the creamy sauce.

Overall, the meal was a testament to the chef’s skill and attention to detail, with a modern twist on classic flavors that left us thoroughly satisfied. Service was impeccable, and every dish arrived with perfect timing, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely and delightful family dinner. A must-visit for anyone in Reykjavik, whether you’re a guest at The Edition or just in the mood for a fantastic meal in a sophisticated setting.

We went at lunch, so a little quiet, but really warm a elegant setup.
Our waiter was really attentive, knowledgeable and friendly.
I had the beef cheek, which I really enjoyed.
We both had the soup of the day, which wasn't to my taste but my wife enjoy. She had the langoustine, which she liked, but felt there was too much bread. But she loved the lemon curd tart, which I think was her favourite bit of the meal.

We booked a reservation for dinner here. We were seated and served very quickly. The wait staff in charge of us was very nice and fun to talk to. They offered us complimentary Yorkshire pudding. It's our first time dining in a fancy restaurant, so it was interesting to see a staff just roaming around with a jug of water to fill everyone's glass.

We opted to pick our own menu instead of the chef choice. I got the North Icelandic lamb fillet, my husband got the Tindur Crusted Grilled Chicken, and for the sides, we got the grilled baby brocoli and roated smælki potatoes For dessert, we had Skyr Cheesecake that we both shared. We only waited about 20 minutes before they served our food.

I thought the food portion was not going to be enough, but we were quite full by the time they rolled the dessert in. Everything tastes SOOO good. We both enjoyed the food and would highly recommend this place.

Overall, we spent about 24,100 kr for both of us.
