I really wanted to like this place. The location is great, welcoming staff and nice candlelit setting for dinner. We shared a fish platter starter which was just ok. But my guinea fowl which, was almost €40 had been cooked on too high a heat, too quickly, resulting in a rubber ball effect texture. Not good enough for the price.
The farmed trout was alright, but they weren't sure, despite asking the kitchen, whether or not it was sea or rainbow trout. Quite a difference in the taste.
The tables are set incredibly close together so you can have as good a conversation with your neighbour as you can your dinner guest. It's a nice setting and nice staff but not a taste sensation which it should have been for the price.

Ate here of a Thursday with work colleagues. It was good. Nice place to eat in the city. Food is tasty and very simple in its execution

The scotch egg with pork is the winner here. Very tasty. With a nice presentation.

But the rest of the food presentation skills were average in my opinion.
Got the steak and have to say its very simplistic in its presentation. As you can see In my photo. Tiny piece of salad and I mean tiny. 4 lettuce leaves with a minute amount of dressing, handful of chips and steak with a blob of butter. Pepper sauce was not good. Garlic butter was. Steak was a bit tough but was cooked as I asked.

Service was very good. Fast and efficient.

Atmosphere. Its a cool place to eat. Very different. Everything is made to look old and worn.

Tables and chairs are old world. Not very comfy to sit for an hour.  but looks good.

Visited here recently and we were delighted with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. You feel like you're eating an elegant meal in a corner bookshop and it's lovely. I would definitely recommend the scotch eggs. We got one of the veggie ones and one of the sausage ones, and they were both delicious. The Butternut Squash Soup was my favorite dish, so warm and comforting with its fall spices. I couldn't recommend this place more, make sure you book a reservation online!

Dined in on the day the menu was refreshed, which was a treat. Had the pork chop with the braised cabbage - every single bite was better than the last. We started with a couple scotch eggs (when in Rome) and the charcuterie board. Great wine selection too! Lovely little restaurant with nice views.

As a book and food lover, this place now holds a very special place in my heart.

Nestled above a book store, the Winding Stair is a cozy restaurant with bookshelves, a lovely bar, and a lot of natural light that looks out into Dublin.

The Porky Scotch Egg was delicious, I loved the Lamb, but my favorite part of the meal was the Rhubarb, which had the best cream I've ever had. Irish cream cannot be beat.

Thanks to Nikolas for his fantastic service, as well as providing me with 3 water pitchers over the course of the service.
