I am incredibly disappointed with the quality of the food in Urbanity. I wouldn’t have written a review, but after paying €45 for 2 very below average dishes and 1 coffee, it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I fully appreciate that everyone can have an off day. On New Year’s Day, when few cafes were open, I gave Urbanity a second chance. My thoughts were confirmed.

The first time I had a disappointing potato hash, with potatoes that were far too firm. The second time I had what sounded on paper to be quite a creative dish with feta, cranberry sauce, walnuts and ham. The dish felt like a random cocktail of fridge left overs, along with pork trimmings that might be kept for the dog to chew on. My girlfriend had a cauliflower dish, which appeared promising from the description, but again was disappointing and tasteless, with cauliflower undercooked.

What disappoints me the most about Urbanity is that it has potential to be so much better. The atmosphere and vibe is nice, they have an old coffee machine in the corner, the exterior looks promising and the coffee isn’t bad.

Urbanity must consider improving their food quality. Other local options such as Social Fabric and Slice serve far superior food at a lower price. Even if Urbanity were to reduce their prices dramatically, the experience would still be disappointing.

Absolutely loved this brunch place! Often times after brunch I feel a little ripped off wondering why I spent €20 on essentially fancy eggs and toast. Not so here, I genuinely enjoyed the food and was shocked at how the flavours worked so well together. I had the cardamom hummus with poached eggs and hazelnut. It was just class. Perfect balance of savoury with a touch of sweet.

Great brunch spot in the heart of Dublin - the food was good, staff friendly, and while very busy when we visited, didn't take long to sit a group of 5. Everything we had was delicious so doubt anything on the menu isnt up to the high standard the restaurant obviously upholds given its popularity, but recommend in particular the birria potato Hash, smoked cooley special (if still there!), and cilbir dishes. Get the halloumi fries as a side if feeling extra peckish - the hot honey sauce alone is worth it 👌
