We took the audio self-guided tour. You definitely want to bring your own earphones with you. I booked our tickets last minute and didn't realize I needed to bring earphones. I tried listening to the audio tour using my phone against my ear, but kept accidentally turning it off and losing my place. The tour, however, was very interesting. The library itself is very impressive! When we were there, they were in the process of beginning a restoration project on the Old Library and shared the process of cleaning, cataloging, and carefully packing the old books. Learning about the Book of Kels was interesting, too, and then seeing it in with all its colors was very special.

Really didn't think I would enjoy this as it's not really my thing (went for my girlfriend). It was amazing! So interesting and incredibly comprehensive. It's a great mix of history presented as history is and then a multimedia feast of information presented incredibly well! Well worth doing - glad I did!

A must see when in Dublin. The wood work is great to see the architecture. Historical library built in 1707 this is the beautiful Dublin College library. Buy tickets in advance it’s in two building the library itself with the Long Room. The books are being restored and this happens very rarely so it’s a historical even to see. I love all the old ancient books and to think the scholars use the study here and have meeting. The book of Kells is from Scotland! To throw yourself back in time is amazing. There use to be only men in the Long Room but now there are 4 women Science, Women’s rights, Math, and literature. The Red Exhibit building is the second part of the tour so don’t miss it. It’s a short walk into the courtyard. You can’t miss it. Tickets were $22.

Wow - what an experience. The self-guided tour was very interesting, but remember to bring your own earphones. The library is still in the process of restoration, so half the books are not there. I’d highly suggest the second part of the tour too, as I think a lot of people miss out on it once they’ve seen the Long Room.

Highly recommend! Maybe I'm a closet history buff and am just realizing it, but I find aww in such history that is preserved and available for us to see today. To see art work on such a piece of it's time is beyond amazing to me.

I think people expect too much today from such exhibits because we have access to everything at our fingertips with our phones now. So much so, that they find it underwhelming because they were able to view so much of it online prior and they were expecting something different, something more.
