Came here with some mates, was left sorely disappointed for the size and prowess of this venue. Came here to watch The Wild Robot with some friends. When I arrived all the ticket retrieval machines but one was broken, forcing 30+ people to wait in one line to get the ticket. We then went upstairs and the whole place was either broken, closed, or dirty beyond belief. Felt disgusting being in there. Additionally, the bathroom was in terrible condition, beyond description to the point I could even use it and had to wait. The whole theater has let themselves go. Staff were nice but overall a disgusting experience. Would recommend going to Dundrum or other theater in the Dublin area

As Ireland's only IMAX-capable cinema, the IMAX theater performance was great, large screen and thundering stereo. A great concession snack place with a huge variety of snacks, drinks, and ice cream. But the chairs left much to be desired. No adjustable reclining back, and the armrests were old and the paints were falling. Also the spacing was rather narrow. Still, the overall experience was good.

This theatre is huge but could use some updates. The seats do not recline, they're cloth, the arm rests do not go up, and the rows are really close together. Outside the screening rooms, the theatre looks more modern. The bottom floor has a small guest service/ticketing desk and the typical movie posters advertising new flicks. There are also self-service ticket kiosks on the opposite wall. There's also usually a stern looking security guard. Once you head up the escalator, you'll come to the concession stand. It's brightly lit, and on either side you'll see "help yourself" candy shelves, where you can fill a bag with as much candy as you want. Adjacent to concessions is a Baskin Robbins stand, which I found really surprising. Sometimes it's manned... and sometimes it isn't. I'm sure you can ask someone in concessions to scoop you up some overpriced ice cream though. On the next floor, there's a bar with TVs and such. I'm not really sure why you'd pay to screen a feature and then sit in a bar with small TVs, but maybe you have some time to kill. It looks pretty nice in there though. If you're in Dublin, it's a fine place to see a film. Just don't expect the experience to be luxurious.

Cineworld on Parnell St is Dublin's biggest cinema with 13+ screens and is the hangout spot for everyone who dislikes the weather, is sick of pubs, and for all blockbuster enthusiasts. That said, the cinema is busy every time of the day - come here early in the evenings to avoid a sold out show. The good: - specials available: online booking (10 euro per ticket) or monthly pass (20 Euro per month with unlimited access and 25% off food & drinks) - variety of screens - all the latest blockbuster movies - bar on the first floor The bad: - some seats need an overhaul - people: when the two girls on your right get comfy and put their feet on the seat in front of them, and when that idiot on the left finally finishes his crackling popcorn bag after 30mins only to continue with a rustling bag of sweets, you know you're in the cinema Fair enough, I personally have a low tolerance for people that show no respect to others so I might not be the perfect cinema goer. I do, however, appreciate this Dublin institution.

When I stayed in Dublin for two weeks I needed a night without pub hopping. So I took in a movie at Cineworld Cinemas. Unfortunately my sober night didn't last long as this movie theater has a bar in it! So before the movie I had a few drinks with pals. By the time the movie started we were slightly buzzed and chatting about where to go to drink after the movie was over. Oddly enough I can not remember what movie I saw here, but the drinks were delicious.

Now I know chains aren't strictly allowed on yelp but I'm going to make an exception for Cineworld. Its gone under a few different names, moved a couple of hundred yards down Parnell street but its still, in my humble opinion, the best multiplex in Dublin. I really wouldn't go anywhere else, partly because of the unlimited card, you pay €20 a month and get unlimited movies. Aside from this the place is huge, well kept and shows a huge selection of movies and genres. Screen 17 is probably the biggest and best in the place. Lately Its been moving into the IFI and the Lighthouse's turf by showing what more 'art house' type movies. I think it's good move though, the more variety the better. Yes it's losing a a point for the very overpriced popcorn and confectionary, €2.20 for a small bottle of water, c'mon lads! The bar is a nice touch though.

Cineworld on Parnell Street is the king of cinemas. It makes other movie theatres look bad. Not only does it have something like 20 screens, but it spoils its customers with all these frills. First off, there's the bar on the second floor which is kind of expensive but has a good atmosphere. It can be nice to get a drink before settling down to watch a two hour movie. Secondly, there's the concession shop on the third floor where you can find all kinds of snacks to rot your teeth. It's hard not to go Miss Piggy when you have such a large selection of jellies. I spent 15 Euro on sweets, a popcorn and a drink last time I was there. Lastly, this cinema has arcade games which my boyfriend cannot resist. The games are a total ripoff but he seems to enjoy the thrill of almost winning an Ipod. I think I should also mention that the reason Cineworld is so popular is because it plays a good selection of blockbuster and indie flicks. It always something for everyone.

If ya wanna go to a movie while in the city centre, your best option is either the Lighthouse or Cineworld and, seeing as the Lighthouse is unlikely to be showing Hannah Montana: the 3d concert experience, Cineworld is more likely to cater to the average film goers tastes. It's a massive, towering cinema with something like 13 screens, and if you wanna see a blockbuster, Cineworld is the only place to go really. Definitely recommended. Avoid the hot dogs though. Not so good.
