Hard to fault this restaurant on Saint Stephens Green. I came for the first time on a recent trip. It feels like Luxury as soon as you walk in. You get escorted to the downstairs bar which has great cocktails. Then for the main event I got the fillet steak. Was top notch and it comes with incredible sides. These sides are so huge that you could never finish by yourself. That makes it great value. The dessert was literally the best cheesecake I have ever had. It's the Oreo cheesecake, and it was incredibly soft and smooth. Again huge portion to share. This is great spot for a special occasion. Definitely coming back.

First, I have to apologize for the awful photos. I'm not sure if it was the lighting or user error, but I could not take a good photo in this beautiful venue. We were referred to Shanahan's by American friends. This is a classic American steakhouse, and had I realized that, I would have chosen a more authentically Irish restaurant. The meal and service were fantastic, but I'm not sure this would rank in my top steakhouse experiences. Our steak was not cooked medium rare - it was almost medium well. While everything was delicious, nothing stood out as unique other than the bread. That being said, a similar experience in the states would cost two times as much (think Morton's or Jeff Ruby's). The bread was fantastic, as were the scallops. As a southern American, the creamed corn was fantastic and as authentic as I've had anywhere (including the south). Our servers were incredibly attentive and the venue was beautiful. If you're from the USA... I'd pass and leave the experience to European tourists who want the American steakhouse experience. No complaints, just not what we typically look for when traveling international (which is entirely our fault). This is a very post place and reservations are a must.

The restaurant was beautiful and the hostesses were kind when greeting me and finding me a table (I did not have a reservation). The bread was Delicious! I could have ate that alone. This steakhouse reminds me of a Ruth Chris in the states. All steaks are ala carte and cooked perfectly. I got a half portion of truffle fries and it was definitely large enough for 2 people at minimum. Upon receiving my bill they gave me three chocolates which was a great treat. The only reason I didn't rate this higher is the wait service seemed to ignore me after I ordered and only till I asked for the check. The restaurant was busy with large parties and their attentiveness with them did look like if it was slower or I had a larger party I would get the same.

Been here twice all the way from Colorado and hoping to come again if it re-opens this summer! Best desserts and the owner was very kind walking around from table to table making sure everything was perfect!

Well, what can I say? We spent 3 days in Dublin and 2-1/2 weeks in France. Shanahan's on The Green served us our best meal!! The steak was excellent, the vegetables were delicious and prepared perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were terrific!!! Ambiance A+++ Service A++++ Who would have thought 2-1/2 weeks in France with so many great meals and Shanahan's came out on top....can't wait to return to Ireland and Shanahan's on The Green!!!

Very good, international quality, steakhouse. I'd say the best part is the downstairs bar, very warm atmosphere. The food was good, similar as you would have at a NY steakhouse. Started with the grilled mussels, a large portion though the mussels themselves were particularly small. Ribeye as a main was an excellent steak. Overall, typical good steakhouse meal.

Easily the most perfectly cooked steak I've ever had. Our meal was amazing. I don't love the ambiance of the place, though, it was quite bright and overall didn't feel very cozy or warm. Our server took a long time to do most anything. We waited 20 minutes to pay for our meal, which was frustrating because we were told they needed the table ready for a party by 8:30 and we're trying to be respectful of that. Lacking in the dessert menu department. The whipped potatoes and crispy onion strings were very, very good.

We came to Ireland to celebrate our 20th anniversary and chose to dine here that evening for our celebration. When I made my reservation, I asked for a romantic table. I was happy we were placed in a smaller room and by the window. At the end of our meal, they gave us Prosecco and sweets for a toast to celebrate. The restaurant is set in an elegant older home and makes you feel at home when here. Friendly staff greets you at the door and the service was excellent. They gave us a sweet treat at the end of the meal and the hostess indulged is with taking our photo. To begin, they send out warm fresh bread. My filet was tender and delicious. I loved how the potatoes showed up in a copper pot for sharing. This is a great place for a romantic celebration dinner.
