Customers sitting on the outside patio and the inside was quiet but definitely non-commercialized, which is what we wanted. We walked in and met with the bartender who provided us samples of a few Dublin based beers. We decided on the Five Lamps 5% brew. We straddled the beer on top of a weathered brown wooden luggage trunk and relaxed in the retro lounge area in front of the fireplace sitting on the green colored velour couches. A monster sized Mohammed Ali black & white photo was affixed to the wall continuing that retro 70s theme throughout.

This place is your friendly neighbourhood bar and now my friendly neighbourhood bar too. Idle wild is the Spiderman of bars in that I saw it on the Web and just had to sling in for a visit. The decor is top class, they have two extremely luxurious teal green couches that look like they could drown a person in comfort at a moments notice such is their very disposition. The beers are decent, Id recommend 'A Swingin Affair' by Rascals brewing company but don't tell your other half perhaps....or they may want 'A Swingin Affair' for themselves. The first bartender did'nt know what a Daiquiri was and began looking among the bottles but then again I could'nt tell you whats in one myself so we are even on that one. Also there was an inconsistency to the two we did receive which was unmistakable. One was acidic with a more intense bite of lime than the first which was a lot smoother on the tongue. Not being mean just being honest. It would'nt stop me from telling people about how nice and inviting the warmth of this place is though. From the stained glass windows to the fine plush furnishings this place oozes olde time charm. This is somewhere you go on a date or with a smaller more intimate group. The steps leading down to the bathrooms would be unforgiving so tread cautiously if you have a clumsy vibe about yourself!

Well well well, what do we have here? A pretty little new bar next to the Market Bar (which I hate with a passion) that has so much charm, I immediately fell in love. The bar staff was super friendly, although we fell in after Longitude festival 30mins before closing time. Not a pinch of attitude or annoyance in sight. I ordered the Idle Wild IPA which had a hint of grapefruit (don't quote me on that, it wasn't my first drink of the night) and was reasonably priced. My friends' first impression of the bar was: the light in here is perfect for a date! Well there you go. You heard it here first.

Oh! I like... Great new bar open in the creative quarters, Idlewild is a great new addition. It has a blend of high tables, comfy couches and nooks to hang out, they have some great beers plus their spirits offering is great, as a gin drinker love to see bars expand the options, not a cork gin in sight... Hallelujah! Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin was my choice of drink last time I was in and boy, I'll be back for that... Music is on point, creates a great vibe and as it goes from day to night, this place oozes charm and good vibes. Will certainly be back and happily recommend :-)

Great location as there's lots of places to go for food afterwards / other bars to move on to. Decor is lovely, really interesting a nice place. Staff are friendly too - music is a bit too loud but it's the same in most places in Dublin these days!
