I went into hogans bar about twice when I was in Dublin on the both evenings that I was there it was pretty crowded As there were a lot of youngsters they're celebrating graduation The legal age requirement for drinking is 18 Being that I was twice their age it was a little bit uncomfortable but they were actually people there what that word twice my age as well Loud music lots of beers on tap, yes it's true the Guinness Stout taste much more better when you get it in Dublin then you can in the United States It's very hard to yelp Gastro pubs in Europe As I have been to plenty in Dublin and London I do have a feel and the sense that they are all extremely similar And hard to find a good comparison between all of them, usually their food venues are exactly the same fish and chips cheeseburgers fries potato skins and the like. Sausages scotch egg But with sets them apart is usually the staff and the entertainment. Sometimes they have a live DJ or a band playing this bar in particular I believe was playing DJ music top 40 when I was in there both nights Definitely had a nice time now there are a lot of nice people in those bars in Dublin. But like I always say if you seen one you have seen them all

Last night I went to Hogans bar to meet my roommates who are of Irish American. I am mixed race black and Irish American and I showed up with a mate who was Colombian. Hogans refused to serve us because they claimed they only took passport ID. Yet my roommates who are white and younger than both of us were served without an issue at all. Younger bartender with long hair and beard told us to leave and we decided to go to oregans across the street who served us without an issue and told us they would even go confront them. I felt uncomfortable and racially profiled last night by hogans bar I'm glad I spent no money there. One of my Irish American mates even asked do I need a passport and the same bartender said no.

I drink in Hogan's with Friends . The Atmosphere is Amazing. The Bar is Located in the centre of the city. The Bar staff are very welcoming and excellent service from them. They are very efficient at all times. The Manamgent are also very friendly and helpful in many ways possible. I would recommend this Bar for there food and drinks . The food is excellent. It is One of the Best Bars to visit you will so.e joy the excellent service.

I really like Hogans because, and this may take some explaining, it's really easy to use. What I mean by that is that this pub operates completely without hassle. The furniture is of the really simple, no frills, "place ass here" school and I think that has an effect on everyones mood. It's a good old school style that encourages conversation, a very positive feature in any pub. Plus they sell Spaten, a mark of class.

Hogan's makes absolutely no sense to me. this is largely due to my lack of spatial awareness and crap eyesight but I find going in here a rather disorientating experience. Y'see Hogan's looks like a normal sizeed bar at the front, but is hugely deceptive in that it stretchec around the block of neighbouring apartments in a big concrete-building hug kinda thing. It gives the pub way mopre space,The Button Factory is one of my favourite venues in Dublin. I've been to many a great gig here, with fantastic sound quality and I've great memories of having a pint with Against Me! here. Aside from the gig end, The Button Factory also does some of Dublin's best club nights on weekends. Transmission on Saturdays is a great indie/electro night, and the late Tetric night was absolutely bangin, before it died a premature death. Definitely worth a go if you want to go on a mad one. but also makes it very easy to get lost in. I've had many a messy night here and although it ca ssometimes be jammed or half-dead, it's quite a good spot to begin a night on the town

Hogan's is grand if it's the type of place you enjoy...definitely not for those who try to avoid scene-y places or ones that get ridiculously packed of a Friday or a Saturday night. It's surprisingly big though, with the basement adding an entirely new dimension. I did manage to get lost here though, because it all does kind of look the same, particularly when it's jammers!! A-OK actually sums it up quite nicely!

There's always a mixed crowd at Hogans; it's neither hipster or dressy, neither full of young 'uns or god's waiting room. It's a comfortable bar in which to have a few, and you can be guaranteed a bustling atmosphere at the weekend. The decor and seating aren't the comfiest and it can get a bit loud - am I showing my age now? *grabs walking stick and shuffles away* Mainly I'm saying, if it's a chill out evening with chats you want, I'd venture a little more off the beaten track. - Downstairs isn't always open and remains a bit of a mystery to me, I'm half thinking that I just hallucinate a second bar after a few too many Cab Savs.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Hogans, but that's probably more to do with the company I shared when I was there rather than the establishment itself. Although I must say I'm a fan of the cool greens... very sophisticated! However when it gets to 3am this place is very unsophisticated. The bouncers operate on a no love, no second chances, and 'no, you cannot finish your drink' policy (which drunk Jo often takes offence to - but don't start a fight - these guys are MASSIVE). Another bonus is they serve a Chilean white that isn't as terrible as most of the Chilean whites out there. IF you can get to the bar, that is...

Hogan's is a lovely, if slightly confusing, pub on George's St. I say confusing as I did not learn its name for ages, and when referring people there, I would refer to "you know that pub on George's St, you know the one with the windows all around", which would usually suffice. Another of the perplexing things about Hogan's is the front door: its not on George's St, as one would expect, but around the corner on Drury St, and you have to pass a number of doors that don't open until you find the real one. Hogan's is a great spot for going on dates, as it strikes a nice synthesis between fancy bar and a nice oul' pub. Hogan's also probably has a greater ratio of window per cubic foot than any other pub in Dublin, so it's nice to sit and look out at George's St, watching the evening fade and the street lamps being turned on. Hogan's is pretty big and there's normally plenty of tables free if there is a group of you. I'd go to Hogan's a lot more frequently if it wasn't so close to The Long Hall, which is favourite pub in town and possibly the known universe, so it does suffer from a bit of an accident of geography fro my perspective. Otherwise, I'd be there all the time.
