Review of Capri Tiberio Palace (September 2024 Stay)

I was incredibly excited to stay at Capri Tiberio Palace with some friends, and at first glance, this hotel lived up to the hype. The property is absolutely stunning, well-maintained, and had the potential to provide an unforgettable experience. However, my stay was overshadowed by a major issue that left a sour taste in my mouth.

The problem began with the hotel’s turndown service, which is supposed to refresh your room while you’re out for dinner. Instead, it became a “letdown service.” Before arriving at the hotel, I had exchanged money—$2,000 in U.S. dollars and €500 in euros—and tucked it securely into my luggage, inside an envelope. During my stay, I discovered that the money was stolen from my room. It wasn’t all of the cash, but a significant amount, suggesting that the theft was calculated rather than random.

When I reported the incident to the manager, Stefano, his response was peculiar. He acted as though he already knew what I was going to say. While he offered to check the cameras, I found this suggestion absurd since there are no cameras inside the rooms, and stolen cash is something easily concealed. His “assistance” felt more performative than genuine.

Things took a turn for the worse when I called the police. What unfolded next made me deeply uncomfortable: it became apparent that the manager and the police were familiar with each other. Their interactions felt more like a reunion than an investigation. This camaraderie left me feeling helpless and convinced me that I wasn’t going to get any real resolution.

While the hotel’s beauty is undeniable, I can’t overlook the fact that my experience was marred by dishonesty and a lack of accountability. If you choose to stay here, keep your belongings with you at all times or consider staying somewhere else. This is not the kind of memory anyone should take away from a dream vacation.

Tiberio Palace was a DREAM stay for a honeymoon in Capri.
What I loved about it most were not only the STUNNING beautiful details, decor, and tiling in the rooms and in every aspect of the hotel but also the very helpful and wonderful staff that works there.
A few other highlights in addition to obviously extraoridinary design and cleanliness one expects at a 5 star hotel
- Incredible pool, views from the exquisite breakfast, and other wonderful amenities including fitness center, Jacky's Bar, and wellness rooms
- We were given a lovely welcome gift of prosecco, bottles of water, and a cake
- The concierge helped us with every question, arranging transport of us and our luggage to make travel so easy.

Could not rave more about this place, it was magical and I can't wait to come back. Thank you to all of the staff!

This hotel is one of the finest we have ever experienced. It is beautiful down to every last detail, the staff could not be more friendly and accommodating, and the location is perfect for Capri. We thank Michele and the staff for an amazing experience.

This hotel is ran by crooks. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night along with friends of ours. We were offered a “turn down” service which is when house keeping comes in and does a room refreshing prior to bedtime. (Sounds great right?) We had arranged to go to dinner at 9p.m so  we scheduled the turn down service for that time. This service was also offered to our friends. However, we all forgot until we noticed the room had been entered upon arrival back to the hotel. Immediately we went to check our personal belongings and realized someone stole money from ALL of us. In total 2,400 euros and 1k usd!!! We then contacted management (Stefano) when he entered the room he was very hostile. He seemed upset at us and acted like it was impossible that someone from his hotel could do such a thing. He repeatedly reiterated that we signed a document that informs their guests to lock all personal belongings in a safe. Which yes, that is true; however, at a five star hotel one shouldn’t have to think twice. He also repeatedly stated that this had never ever happened in Capri or at this hotel over the last 10 years. (It gets better) We decide to look at further reviews of this hotel and about a year ago a similar complaint was made with the same scenario! The only solution to this would be to contact the police, create a report, and they investigate, etc. Which is a complete dead end considering we have zero actual proof because the thief wouldn’t be caught on camera exiting the room with money in their hand (I mean really?) however, we still decided to have them contact authorities. Which by the way, big mistake. Because he contacted a police officer he knew BY NAME! In my opinion it seems like they do a lot of inside jobs and everyone including the police are in on it. Everyone seemed offended or like we were falsely accusing them. No one seemed to have empathy. The police also stated that the other scenario that was posted as a review was “investigated” and ruled out to be “untrue” ???? How? ….. The situation was poorly handled on many levels and especially by management (Stefano). His only solution was a refund of our money and for us to leave the hotel. (I mean wow) Sadly, we really did love the hotel itself, it’s absolutely beautiful, and has so many different amenities. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and I don’t think I have to further elaborate on why!

We had an excellent time dining at the Tiberio Hotel restaurant. The dishes and desserts were delicious. We were warmly welcomed by Mohamed and Andrea, who took perfect care of us and made our experience extraordinary with their attentiveness. The service is incredible. There’s nothing better than a place where the quality of the dishes matches the highest standards of service, combined with the warm Italian approach. Highly recommended!
