Visited Amerigo this week and had an incredible meal and great service. My husband and I have spent almost a month in Italy and this has been our favorite meal. The truffle gnocchi, mushroom lasagna, and pork cheek were stand outs, but the whole tasting menu was delicious. We stayed the night at the inn (Locanda Amerigo), which is right around the corner and is well-decorated. We appreciated the breakfast the next morning that was included with our stay. The staff helped us coordinate a taxi to Bologna at the end of our stay and made sure we had all we needed.

Definitely recommend coming to visit for the food and locanda. There was not much else to explore in town, but the trip for the food was well worth it!

Some friends suggested this place to us, so we booked for a new year’s eve in advance at the end of November. To specify, the only information provided to us after the booking was about some special menu, that will be posted later around the middle of December. On the restaurant’s website we found a monthly menu with a range of dishes to choose from, and then an option with a separate selection of predefined dishes. We expected the menu for the new year’s eve to be similar.

Today is December 23rd, and while randomly going through the restaurant’s Instagram page, we suddenly found out, that 2 days ago they’ve posted a predefined menu for the 31st. Only by contacting the place, we got informed that there will be absolutely no choice available for the 31st other than listed courses.

I believe that not being able to choose what you eat is a very important detail, that should be specified in advance during the booking process. There was absolutely to way for us to know this, and it also wasn’t specified under the dedicated post. Though even if it was, I don’t think that it’s correct to expect your potential customers to constantly check your social media for information. I was looking forward for this evening, but we had to cancel the booking after today’s news.

I personally see it as a disrespect to my time as a customer, because the management is surely aware how busy this period is and that having to cancel the booking now would leave people with little to no alternatives. Considering the high ratings of this place, I expected to have clear and full information, not an instagram post with no details posted a week before the event. In the end I have no desire to come to a place with such a negligent customer care.

What can I say. At first when looking at the interior design you would never think that this is a Michelin Star restaurant from the outside but after tasting the food you start to realize that this is the wriel thing. Had raw cows meat with black truffles and Polenta with White Truffles. Very clean flavours and few ingredients that work well together. People need to Understand that truffles don't bunch as much flavour as in the chemical sauces and etc. for main courses we had the gnocchi with Truffles and a Parmeggiano filled pasta. The stuffing was amaizing and again pure, clean flavours that work well. The restaurant owner was very nice and made us feel welcome, even though he schooled me about some Italian myths  😁

My wife and I went for dinner last night, one of the best meals of our lives. Service was wonderful, vibes were on point, beautiful countryside location and the food was absolutely incredible. Perfect balance between modern and tradition, all dishes executed very well. The coursing / progression of the meal was perfect, they split the pasta in half portions so we each had our own dish. Nice touch. Very great value, not cheap but we went all out and it was very reasonable especially considering the calibre.

Unlike a few other reviewers I will not bad-mouth this restaurant. The food here is good, and I applaud Amerigo for using locally-sourced ingredients and highlighting regional recipes. Also the service is good.
Overall, while the meal was good it was not overwhelming - not what we were expecting from a Michelin Star restaurant, but the fault lies with us. We had over-blown expectations of a meal that would wow us. Amerigo did not, through no fault of its own.
If you want a good meal using locally-sourced ingredients, highlighting regional dishes go here, but be fair. Do not expect to have  your socks knocked off with meal to remember for years to come.
