Great historical site that goes deep into the depths of Rome. Multi level below, with great handrails and easy stairs to manage your way down. They have a great system set up for lights and is a very interesting site. We got right in on a Thursday at 430pm, if we bought tickets online you save 2 euro each.

No trip to St. Clements is ever complete without visiting the archeological sites below the church. An absolute highlight beyond the ruins of the earlier church was the spring that is still running till this day!

So much to love about this church and don't forget to buy the special crucifix as a memento - it's the ONLY crucifix that has 12 doves.

Fantastic place and relatively unknown! Literally like a lasagne of history. You have the current Middle Age Basilica, down a level to the 4th Century Basilica, down ANOTHER level to Roman ruins! One area is believed to have been the Ancient Roman Mint (hence the water to cool the coins). Under 18’s free. No photo’s in the lower levels.

The Basilica of San Clemente, one of a kind, has a wonderful decorated wooden coffered ceiling and a magnificent Byzantine mosaic in the apse. Unfortunately the scaffolding doesn't make the amazing beauty of the church clearly visible. The works, which are fundamental for the conservation of the site, will last more than a year.
