Fantastic, sleek atmosphere. The vibe is laid-back, and unpretentious which allows you to feel quite relaxed at what is quite a high end restaurant. The table shared with strangers is cool and adds to the experience if sharing food. Great to be able to see the kitchen. We had the Sabotage off-menu between 4 and it was perfect. Very distinct tastes, with the main being the highlight. Would come back for sure.

One of our favourite nights in Rome. Lively modern concept and a really cool place to eat and drink. The wine list is fantastic and the staff really know their stuff. The menu is very interesting.. creative but also grounded so every dish was something new but it worked. Almost every dish was memorable and it was great to watch the chefs make it in front of us. Modern space, great crowd and service was impeccable. We’ve booked again for a second night it was that good :)

Had a great dinner here last night to celebrate my 2 year anniversary with my partner. Staff was so welcoming and kind, ambience was great and the food was incredible. We sat at one of the communal tables and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. The pizzaoiola tartare, green pasta and sweetbreads were superb! Great date night spot!

We chose the 5-course tasting menu at the counter, and it was simply excellent.

The cheese pasta, in particular, still stands out – an unforgettable delight! The atmosphere of the restaurant is intimate and warm, and the counter service offers an even more immersive and personal experience.

One little downside though: dessert isn’t included in the 5-course meal. It would be nice if it were mentioned upfront or maybe added to the tasting menu.

Retrobottega is undoubtedly a place I would recommend to anyone who loves refined cuisine in Rome.

Great dinner and great atmosphere, we tried the sample menu, all the dishes were very tasteful and creative, especially the Japanese style fish! A different approach to gastronomy for Rome standards, highly recommended!
