Spotted this stunning structure on the way walking to Trastevere. I believe it was dated older than the colosseum! Cannot go inside but one could admire from the outside! Not sure why this structure does not get more attentions, especially for its history! Don’t miss it when you are in Rome!

Its stacked arches and travertine façade inspired later structures like the Colosseum.

The theatre’s evolution is equally fascinating—repurposed as a fortress in the Middle Ages and later integrated into the Orsini family’s Renaissance palazzo. This blend of eras, visible in its upper levels, exemplifies Rome’s layered history.

Beautiful theatre, which is now owned by a private family so there are no tickets or tours inside.

The building is visible only from the outside (for free) but there are gates to the area so while you can admire it from afar, it's better to get closer.

The Flavio Colusseum may get all the attention, but out of two, this theatro is for thru ancient Rome tourists. Walk around this theater, and you will see what I mean. Take the time to imagine yourself in ancient life
