Such an exceptional hotel with the best staff. The staff to guest ratio feels very high, even to comparable hotels. Everyone has clearly worked there a long time and knows how to be helpful. The rooms are big and comfortable and the food is delicious. The location is really nice--much better than staying in Portofino which is very small and filled with luxury chain stores. The path to Portofino is a fantastic walk and you can take the ferry back to Santa Margherita Ligure. There's a beach club right across the street with more than enough chairs and terrific facilities, and the pool is really nice. There is a shallower end where young children can play comfortably and then a deeper end. Loved everything about it.

A bit dated, but great service and the location was very central. We asked thrice that the concierge wash our car and they never did. Food was high quality although not once did we get 100% what we ordered. There was always at least 1 major element missing.

The balcony was spacious and relaxing. The pool was beautiful; right out of a movie. We would consider staying here again but would also check around.

This hotel is “grand” in every sense of the word. We cherished each of the five nights spent. For starters, the location is ideal: it’s a manageable distance to Portofino via the Walk of Kisses, not to mention centrally positioned within the charming town of Santa Margherita, which boasts a number of eateries and shops. It is also directly across the street from an immaculate beach club where chairs are reserved for hotel guests. From an amenities perspective, we didn’t have a single critique. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, with comfortable beds (memory foam pillows upon request, which I was thankful for) large closets, and modern bathrooms. Common areas offer even more delights: explore the grounds to discover a garden, cliffside pathway, stunning pool and cozy bar area where you can enjoy live piano music every night. Oh, and the food? 10/10. Our first night we were too tired to go out but enjoyed splendid focaccia on our balcony overlooking the sea. The main restaurant, Vistamare, was so delicious we debated returning to order the anchovy/lemon pasta two nights in a row. Breakfast was included in our room rate and it didn’t disappoint- the spread is large and even includes extensive gluten free options. Perhaps most importantly, the staff are all genuinely kind and clearly passionate about delivering a five star experience. We can’t wait to return.

This is a special hotel. Where to begin, the location is ideal; right on the water with easy access to SML and Portofino; the facilities are terrific, especially the pool; the staff is exceptional, warm and kind in a way that is so Italian; the room is spacious and the view from the balcony is spectacular. But above all, there is a certain something about the property that can’t be described, a character, an intimacy even, that makes the experience here so magical and relaxed. It instantly has become among our very favorite properties in Italy and we can’t wait to come back. In a word, fabulous.

This is our second stay at this superb hotel. Upon entering to our room, we exhaled with the sense of arrival.

The cleanliness of our room and the hotel throughout is indeed exceptional.

The staff throughout the hotel are professional and attentive with a cheeky sense of humour. Beautiful, kind and personable.

Stefano at the front desk is incomparable. His knowledge of the area and connections to restaurants allowed us to secure tables at some of the finest dining establishments. Stefano is a true gentleman.

If you’re ever in Santa Margherita, Grand Hotel Miramare is a must.
