Stopped in to see a room because Ive learned my lesson too many times booking sight unseen and the receptionist was cold when I asked, refusing to before check in time because "they were still cleaning." The sewage smell I read about in another review was definitely apparent walking through the gates of the property which is on a long, deserted strip of dilapidated buildings behind the airport. The photo Im including is taken directly across the street and the path you would take to access the beach. Before we left, I stuck my hand in the pool water at the shallow end and noticed that the steps in the shallow end were slimy. Im not sure who's awarding this 5 stars but I wasn't about to pay €110 for something that seemed worth half that

This is a 2 star hotel trying to pose as a 5 star hotel, and besides the prices, is definitely not a luxury hotel.

We stayed in 3 and 4 star hotels all over the island that were better, in terms of the service, the quality of the room, price of a night's stay, as well as the food and drinks they had to offer. Don't even get me started on the TERRIBLE coffee they have in the room.

The service from the hotel staff was completely lack luster. We had to bring in our bags completely on our own, and they were not helpful at all.

When we got into our room, it was 28C (82F), and we had to have them turn on the air conditioning, to even try cooling the room, but even then it is the worst air conditioning we experienced on the island, and couldn't cool the quite small room we were in, so we left the doors open for a few hours, just to relieve the heat in the room as best we could. Nor could we even control the temperature on the thermostat in the room. Even the minibar fridge in the room was as hot as the room.

The food we ordered for dinner was such a disappointment, after the absolutely wonderful food we had everywhere else. For example, the common street food in Palermo was better, both in terms of quality and price.

The only thing this hotel has going for it, is the fact that from here to the airport is 12 minutes, so if we manage to get any sleep, it won't take long to actually get some decent food and drinks before our long trip home.

Romano Palace Luxury Hotel is a great choice for a stay in Catania, especially if you’re looking to relax by the beach. Located just 100 meters from Catania Beach and about a 10-minute drive to the Old Town Center, it offers a nice balance between beachside tranquility and easy access to the city. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to unwind. The outdoor pool is a lovely feature, perfect for enjoying the Mediterranean sun.

One highlight is the buffet breakfast, which provides a good selection to start your day. Check-in and check-out were quick and seamless, which made the whole process hassle-free. Being close to Catania Airport is an added convenience, especially for travelers with early or late flights.

A small downside is the limited restaurant options within walking distance, so be prepared to drive into Catania for a variety of dining and cafe choices. Overall, I would recommend Romano Palace Luxury Hotel if you don’t mind a short drive to experience the charm of Catania’s Old Town.

Decent hotel especially for the price. Not the newest but nice enough. Overall pleasant one night stay for us and the breakfast was really good!

We recently stayed at the Romano Palace in Catania, and I have to say, I was thoroughly disappointed. Despite being promoted as a 5-star luxury hotel, the experience was far from luxurious. The service was extremely subpar, with staff being unresponsive and at times even unprofessional. Basic amenities were missing or poorly maintained, and the facilities were outdated and in need of serious refurbishment.

The worst part of our stay was at the hotel restaurant. We ordered two bottles of wine from the menu, but they didn’t have what we asked for. Instead of informing us, they brought out a more expensive wine without saying anything, and of course, charged us for it at the end. When we refused to pay for their mistake, they insisted we cover the higher cost. This kind of behavior is absolutely crazy and unacceptable, especially from a so-called "luxury" hotel.

The room was nowhere near the standard you’d expect for the price—old furniture, lack of cleanliness,  made the stay unpleasant. For what you pay, it's a complete rip-off. There are far better options in Catania for much less. I would not recommend Romano Palace to anyone looking for a true luxury experience.
