Bebop is a small restaurant in a relatively calm street in centrer of Palermo. The atmosphere is filled of nostalgia. The chef is very keen to show his understanding on the joint venture between seafood and chilli. Many dishes have quite expressive spicy expressions, especially the pasta. For sweetness, the chef prefers to use natural sweetener such as pumpkins. Finally, the dessert, which is made from watermelon jelly and pistachio scrambles is very light and very low in sweetness, which I personally enjoyed. I think the restaurant itself is a good experience of new tastes, and the ingredients are fresh and of high quality.

The menu is tight and full of well-thought-out flavours that have roots in Sicilian dishes. It was a wonderful experience from both a flavour and service perspective. The front-of-house staff were very knowledgeable and attentive.

We didn’t do the degustation menu as we were a larger group, but they were kind enough for us to share dishes, hence the smaller portion sizes in the pictures.

The wines were very approachable, and the G&T to start was perfect.

It’s definitely a place worth checking out if you want an elevated dining experience full of flavours with a thoughtful wine list.

I must say that this is very mediocre place , as a person who tried hundreds of good restaurants all over the world , this place claimed to be a Mechlin star restaurant while the 5 dishes we tried were all disappointing. Aside of the tiny portions which didn’t even reach to be called tapas size. Anyway the portions are irrelevant when the taste is not there. Even the homemade bread was awful not even a first grade baker can do better.
The staff was not even interested to understand our feedback or bother to understand. We ended up eating burgers and french fries after that .

Disappointing experience.
While the place and the food are designed well (look good), the food lacks in terms of creativity, cooking, and quantity, hence, not justifying the price tag and set expectation.

The taste was repetitive across several dishes. For example, the appetizer 'dove il contadino riposa' had similar content (cauliflower in pistachio cream, white moussed sauce, tomato base) as the amuse bouche, and then the mains 'Carciofo aperto sul Brace' again had similar taste and ingredient. This also included the salt flakes. The artichoke dish ('Carciofo ...') was one small piece in a bed of creamy sauce, hardly an appetizer in size or content, but labelled as a mains!!
My wife had 'Spaghettoni,, which was a tiny amount of pasta that was under-cooked and swimming in a garlic/olive lemon-tasting sauce (supposedly fermented fish sauce). The other pasta 'Sicilia Barocca' was quite good, incl. the well-cooler al-dente pasta.
The other appetizer 'Isola Versante Nord' combined a piece of swordfish with a sweetish sauce to an interesting taste.

There was a somelier, but useless in being there. Asked what we liked and made one proposal. Wow, what an achievemenz for a sommelier! No advice, no choice, no pairing suggestion.
Overall, a very disapppointing experience.

We gave feedback to the two friendly lady staff at the end, but they were not interested, it seems. Another reason to avoid a place like that.

Ambiance great, food is very hit or miss.
The main positive of this place is the ambiance. However even this gets disturbed by the waiter who awkwardly hovers around the table.

The menu is incredibly unclear, the waitress first said we could choose 5 dishes, then said we get all the dishes, and then proceeded to randomly choose 5 dishes for us. The majority of the dishes were mediocre or almost inedible, with a few gems in between.

One dish was raw shrimp guts with a slab of frankfurter. The spleen and blood were present and it felt uncivilised eating it. If given the choice, I wouldn’t have chosen this.

When we explained to the waiter that there seemed to be confusion with the menu as we thought we should choose the options, she offered us another dish for free but then the chef advised we’d need to pay extra for these! Paying for their mistake? I would have left this with 1 star but the chef apologised with an extra dish.

Overall, I feel that this place has potential but is let down by mixed service and mixed quality of dishes, which we wouldn’t expect at this price point.
