We were at this hotel end of April 2024 and spend the most amazing time there. We were celebrating our honeymoon and everyone made sure every experience was just perfect for us. The resort is beautiful, the spa and fitness amenities are amazing, there are golf courses and tennis courts and you can get everywhere by bicycle or golf car. Also the restaurants and bars are excellent.
We are very thankful for the many lovely details and the kind wishes from everyone. The service was outstanding, very attentive and respectful. We will always think back of this time with great joy and happiness and for sure will return to visit Verdura Resort. Thank you very much for this unforgettable time!

Stayed here with my wife for our honeymoon. It was an unforgettable experience. Such a personal touch to the entire stay. When we arrived they greeted us with a snack and fresh juice from their mandarin trees. When we got to the room the luggage was packed away neatly. There were flowers in the shape of a heart on the bed. Within 10 minutes someone buzzed and brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. At every meal during our stay they congratulated us and offer a free glass of champagne to celebrate. We paid extra for the suite and it did not disappoint - the room was huge and the view of the sea was spectacular. Every morning they brought us breakfast to our room (this was extra but worth it) and we ate on the patio looking at the sea.

The only negative part was the golf course. There was been a very long draught in Sicily and the course was in rough shape. They probably should have been offering a discounted rate. Regardless, this resort and the staff were incredible.

Our experience at Verdura Hotel left much to be desired. There were several issues that made our stay far less enjoyable than expected, especially for the price we paid.

To summarize;

My partner is allergic to fish roe, and we requested a swap to shrimp for this pasta (which is cheaper than dried tuna eggs). They did accommodate, but we were charged an extra 6 euros for the substitution. Ridiculous!

The bar snack hygiene was not okay. We noticed that they refill the chip bowls by adding fresh chips on top of old, soggy ones eaten by previous guests. This is very unhygienic, especially during a time when viruses are easily spread.

The food was hugely overpriced for what we got—42 euros for five fried zucchini pieces! The dishes lacked flavor, and nothing stood out as enjoyable.

The activities were also overpriced. At other resorts, even in lower price ranges, tennis courts and equipment are often included at no extra charge. Here, everything had an additional fee, which felt excessive for what was already a costly stay.

Housekeeping was a bit unreliable. Room cleaning and maintenance were never on time, and we had staff walk in on us during baths and naps. We also found spider webs and bugs (tvestjärtar) in the bed. Having on crawl on us ☹️

The bike situation was another frustration. Instead of assigning bikes to each guest, you have to “steal” bikes from other guests – very chaotic and annoying. (Tips; See how Six Senses is doing when it comes to bikes)

Lastly, already adding tip to the bill is a dark design pattern, it should be optional and not designed to make it awkward for the guest.

Overall, the experience could’ve been better, lovely views and kind and helpful staff. ☀️

But definitely not worth the price, I’d not recommend and would not visit again.

Fantastic resort - maybe one of the top 5 at the Mediterranian. We were there the 4th time and are stil amazed by the location, architecture, golf, food, service, simply everything. Special treat are the thalasso pools which after a round of golf. We definitely come back.

EDIT: Finished our 5 night stay at the hotel.  Final review is 3.75 (cant do that ln Google which is why you see 4 stars).

I appreciate the GM responding to my inital review and I want to thank him and his team for making our stay as good as possible including a room upgrade and a champagne for my parent's anniversary. They did not have to do any of this and I appreciate their effort to go above and beyond. I also want to complement Angela from guest services and Micaela (Mikaela?) from check in. Their personalized attention to what we needed and to making sure we had what we needed was genuinely appreciated. They made me feel the personalized level of service that I thought I was going to be receiving from a hotel of this caliber (again the benchmark is Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Mandarin and other Rocco Forte properties).

The good is that the staff is incredibly kind (well intentioned but they do not always follow through or they need some prompting/reminders to get you what you ordered); the property is in a  gorgeous setting with the mountains and the sea as a backdrop to your daily coffee and walk around the golf courses; and the spa pool and facilities are world class.

Overall, I still feel the rooms and the non-main or suite buildings need some TLC (we joked that one of the buildings had a letter that was peeling off giving it another name). Even if the upgraded room was bigger, bigger is not necessarily better because the finishes are still tired and are showing their age. I also asked for a hammock like all the other suites had and even after 2 days of requesting it by day 3 when it did not show up it became a joke that the hammock must be coming from Rome.

Overall, I will say that while being in Italy I felt like I could have been in any resort in the US. I missed the local charm and also the benefits that come from being in Europe it felt a bit too sterile and corporate to the point that I kept telling myself I could be anywhere but Italy while staying here.

INITIAL REVIEW:  Day 1 of arrival and I have to say that it was the one I was most excited about on this trip to Sicily given the fame this hotel has. Service and staff are incredible as is the location and the amenities, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired.

For what you pay and the hype around the hotel the rooms are lackluster. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and when you reach these prices its the little details in the room that places something over the top. Here you have scuffed furniture and walls, lamps in the room that are tired and have stains on them, concrete floors without any sort of rug or accessory to warm your feet and bathroom products that are basic.

The room could be a copy paste of a lot of other 4 star rooms I have stayed in elsewhere. Again, I get the location and the service but when you come to a hotel the room is the main attraction as well as the place where you spend a significant portion of your time. In this aspect this hotel is pretty copy paste (ie could be anywhere in the world) and misses the mark for what I was expecting from one of the best hotels in Sicily.
