La Torre is 1 Michelin Star restaurant in Tuscany. It’s one of the highlights we were looking forward to in this year’s trip in Italy. Dinner time, we’ve ordered the 5 courses with the classic wine pairing. I must say everything from the start was about bringing the flavor game to the next level. We enjoyed each dish and savored each bite. Wine pairing was perfect. Until the desserts, it all changed and left us really disappointed. The items are way too sweet. I understand that in Italy, it maybe that preferences are more on the sweeter side, but I would expect a Michelin Star restaurant to have well balanced plates across all courses. When one of the staff approached us after dessert and asked how everything was, I honestly said that I found the plate too sweet but we tried to finish them. Same as I was honestly letting them know how good were their previous courses. Weirdly, after the “too sweet” response, nobody from the staff was really attending to us anymore if we still need anything or something. I would have given this a 4-star rating considering the high level of dessert sweetness should the staff have been consistent on the service attentiveness. We were not even asked if we want coffee or tea after, which other tables are having. On the other tables, waiters are just chit chatting and laughing.  It left us with such an unsatisfactory feeling and a let down really considering we we’re so looking forward to having this experience.

The food was inventive and good, with some dishes way better than others.

We had the seafood tasting menu and many courses were delicious.

Atmosphere could use a little upgrade though and it was very cold and stark.

The wine pairings did disappoint. For 2t9 euro a person, we expected fantastic wines but many were average at best

For a one-star-Michelin-restaurant, this option didn't go above and beyond to my palate and the experience was lacking.

The three of us did the experience menu, which should come with a variety of eight dishes, with options ranging from sea, earth and vegetarian with a cost of approximately 210 euro. Up until the 5th dish, everything we had was based on the sea menu, which was cheaper, so I complained and asked the staff that something was wrong. After I complained, they explained that the next one would be an earth dish. They brought the silverware for earth. The sommelier, on the other hand, came to our table and served a wine saying the 6th course would be fish, and thus served a red wine for fish, but red meat ended up coming. Although later he came apologizing for mismatching the wine with the food, it was frustrating to pay an exorbitant amount of money for something that was mostly for another menu and with an error in the wine. I don't remember tasting a vegetarian item in the experience menu.

Additionally, the pre-starters, although creative had a bitter taste which controlled the whole pre-starters menu. For instance, the cherry involving a paste of chicken liver, was controlling the pre-starters menu.  At other points of the dinner, food was bland, i.e. the Italian filled Italian lemon. Lastly, food would reach the table cold.

On a bright side, the view is incredible. So if you are looking for a great view in Tuscany, this is a place to go, but I would avoid this restaurant. There is a cheaper option than the almost 400 euro per person dinner we had (~210 for the experience menu and ~200 euro wine pairing).

Absolutely fantastic dining experience. This was more reminiscent of the two star Michelin restaurants I’ve been to…. Shocked it didn’t have a second star. Each course was distinct with incredible textures and flavors. The wine list was extensive. The staff…friendly and professional. On this occasion, we dined on the terrace, al fresco… overlooking the Tuscan countryside under perfect weather conditions. I already want to go back to try one of the other tasting menus (land, sea, vegetarian (i had the sea). Truly excellent
