We recently visited Castel Fragsbyrg for our honeymoon, enjoying the romantic package which included: champagne on arrival, half board and a couples massage.

The hotel is beautiful, it really did have a magical feel to it. The location was perfect for us, we particularly enjoyed the privacy of being up in the hills. The staff were attentive and friendly. The evening food was absolutely Michelin quality, we were very impressed with the menu which changed each night. Our room was elegantly designed, however the only small issue we experienced was that there was no tea and coffee facility in the room, so we had to ask for tea and coffee at the restaurant and then take it to our room at an extra cost. We explored the grounds, including e-biking, the nearby waterfall and the medieval castle—all of which we would highly recommend. Also, the spa treatment was fantastic, we would highly recommend.

What an absolute gem. My wife is fairly critical of hotels, but this was a truly phenomenal four-night stay. The perch alone is special, but so too are the attention to detail, courtesy, and respect for privacy. Rustic charm and elegance play together beautifully throughout all spaces inside and out. Rooms are quiet, comfortable, and spacious. The staff is tremendous. The self-parking is easy, close, and plentiful. Needs are anticipated and expectations exceeded.

We did not dine at the starred restaurant, as we tend to prefer more “typical” regional fare, but ate one night at the a la carte restaurant and every bite was excellent. This coupled with a possibly unrivaled breakfast experience suggests that one cannot go wrong with however much or little one eats while there.

You get what you pay for at the Frag. I cannot say enough nice things. Only gripe is that the wifi is terrible. Not a big deal if you’re trying to get away from it all and immerse yourself in the surroundings, but could be problematic if expecting/relying on a decent connection. It didn’t significantly impact us, but warrants mention. We will return without hesitation.

Gorgeous views!!  Very nice room.  But, the restaurant was not impressive and we had high hopes - bland food, very small portions, high price (with an arrogant and inattentive waiter).  An underwhelming dining experience unfortunately.
